Could be fact? If the filter was not kept clean, but Im sure a company like that ( high quality) wouldn't put it there if it restricted that much airflow. Plus IIRC the only Compact I seen in my life was not well cared for but the filter wasn't very dirty at all.

OMG OMG OMG... Thats the one my cousin had, I had the blue 7.5 amp. Loved that vacuum. I did like the hose on the 6.5 better as mine was the stretchy hose and we all know what happens to them when you put Mr. Crevice tool on ;) Congrats it looks great. Kenny

Id wait, you could get a Winsor for less IMHO. Its not a bad price if its in good condition, but I like the Sebo better. And yes the difference is cosmetics and I think the sebo adds a dusting brush IIRC.

Thats a tricky one. I'd be carful washing it as the silk screening may come off. Id try a sponge dampened with Woolite, thats what I usually do with bags that Im not sure will wash well. Im not sure how the Royal bags are as I've never had one (yet lol), but my Hoover bags Ive just vacuumed them...

Nice I think its from the late 70's if the SN indicates the manufactures date its 3/78. But I think early 80's seem more like it. I have never seen this older version in person. Thanks for sharing.

Could be a loose wire in the hose cuff at the machine end, or a bad contact in the handle switch, or yes a break somewhere in the hose =( in wich case you will need a replacment hose.
