    The Beautiful 68 Convertible

While working on the 68 and doing some washing in the other room, we loaded up the dishwasher with more Convertible parts Fred was working on. He used only STPP (phosphates - water softener) for the cycle so there are was no chance of harming any of the painted parts with detergents, bleaches...

    The Beautiful 68 Convertible

Polish and elbow grease made this machine shine like new again - truly stunning in person!

    The Beautiful 68 Convertible

When we got the machines back home, Fred set about tearing the 68 down and giving it a spa treatment. Watching him work on these machines is just amazing, he knows them inside and out and clips along like a Hoover restoration machine! He disassembled the entire machine, cleaned and greased all...

    The Beautiful 68 Convertible

We took a trip up to Minneapolis last weekend to visit our very own webMaster(s) and had some good luck at the estate sales, as we usually do. Both Fred and I found Hoovers at one house, a very nice model 28 and a 68 Convertible.

I keep thinking I need to go down to that Goodwill soon - may have to do that tomorrow. I'll check out the Wards ;-)

    Oreck owners out there

I like my Orecks as well, great for vacuuming carpets quickly and "relatively" well. They make the cleaning time profitable and much easier on your back if you have a large amount to do often. I've had a fair number of them over the years, they aren't the most durable for really hard use -...

    If you HAD to choose!!!

I'd be toting my Hoover 63 for the upright cleaner and probably an Electrolux of some ilk. I love my turquoise G but I'd need a hose to use my Sidekick with it, then I'm ready to go.

A Canadian Masterpiece - And A Dream Machine Finally Obtained!!

Beautiful, Fred! It really is in remarkable condition - does it smell new? I had one of these I bought in Phoenix at a thrift store way back in the 80's and they were excellent machines. "as pure as mountain air or sea coast..." Good thing, little girls STINK! ;-)

Famous Last Words - No More Vacuum Cleaners!

Then we have the Hoover 66 Convertible. Terry and I brought it home the week before from an estate sale. The guys from the sale had been using it in houses to clean up after sales, but it "died on us" so I brought home for $5 thinking someone would want it. Well, oddly enough, that someone...

Famous Last Words - No More Vacuum Cleaners!

I've uttered those words many times, but to no avail! My goal was to find new homes for several machines when everyone was here over Labor Day weekend but here we are with two additions! The first was the Saniway from the store we visited in Norfolk. Tania had told me about the machine and when...

    Large Vac Collection For Sale

I got a call from Jim as well, it sounds like he's being smart about the selling of his collection. I missed his call but he left a message. It sounds like a big collection!

    Opinions on Dust Care

I have a Dust Care backpack vacuum and while I can't speak to the uprights other than a display at a local shop with probably the rudest, negative shop-owner I've ever met, I've been pretty impressed with my backpack. I bought it on Craigslist for about half the average selling price and have...

    How to re"Vita"lize your rugs.......

Cool - congrats! Vita-Mix Corp. sold these for years. I've watched them on Ebay when I was in my Vita-Mix acquisition phase but they were few and far between. I always thought they were sharp looking colors and that handle on the side was just perfect. Since the demise of Air-Way, they no...

    My snazzy Hoover Junior!

Nice work, Fred, that did turn out sweet. A good friend of mine had one of these - it was her father's vac when he and her mother split up. I couldn't wait to play with that vacuum when the opportunity came up!
