I'm shot full of shop vacs now

What I like about the wet/dry vacs is they're so easy to clean everything. You can just hose it all down (other than the motor) after each use, which is what I usually do.

I'm shot full of shop vacs now

Very nice machines there! I have always found the commercial style shop vacs interesting. It seems in other countries you get more of a variety of styles and others with carpet cleaning ability whereas that didn't take off as much here in the US for as long as it did over there. We got a Global...

Anyone own a newer Hoover Porta Power?

Some experience I have one. The hose is stretchy, kind of like an upright vacuum hose material. Overall I like it, still uses the classic Hoover attachments and chrome wands, nice long cord. The suction is alright, pretty quiet too. The only thing I don't care for as much is the bag setup...

I'm shot full of shop vacs now

Well yesterday I went to another thrift shop and happened upon a Craftsman shop vac, complete with most of the tools for $10. I didn't buy it. But last night thinking got the best of me and I went back today and got it. I already have my 5 gallon Shop Vac from 1997 I've had since I was a kid...

    Kirby green LED

Thanks for all the info! That is a very interesting setup, I never would have guessed it was self powered.

Stinky bagless vacs and bulky item day trash finds.....

I think even if you empty it there are oils in dogs fur that stick to the bin and leaves odors. I’ve noticed even with bagged vacuums you get an odor. I think what you pick up leaves residue on the air passages of the vacuum and in the brush roll chamber. Really have to take apart and soak...

    Kirby green LED

I've noticed on the Kirby vacuums, there is that green LED on the nozzle. From my understanding this LED is lighted when the brush is on? I was wondering how the LED is powered? There does not seem to be any power connection between the motor/base and the nozzle. Also did the LED first appear...

    Trash vacs

Today saw a newer style red/black Shop Vac on the side of the road near me. Slowed down and looked, hose but no attachments, no wheels on it, didn't get it. Figured the motor was dead.

    Trash-picked vintage Kenmore canister

Wow! Awesome story. I remember you finding that canister, I figured all the other parts were long gone. Good to hear they will be together again!

What model is this particular Kenmore

On the newer models you mention with the foam around the motor, I find it's usually still in good shape, but needs to be cleaned every 5 years or so. It gets clogged with dust from the carbon brushes and if you wash it out and let it dry, you get much better airflow. I usually also take any...

What model is this particular Kenmore

116 is the model prefix, which means it's a Panasonic made machine. Lots of people will call these a Model 116 but it's not really accurate. Here's the assembly and parts diagram: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/2gn7h0o4a5-000582/kenmore-1162421190-canister-vacuum-parts There should be...

Are mini-electrified upholstery tools better than turbo tools?

I'm not sure on that, I think the older Electrolux Sidekicks did have overload protection. The one that came with my Grand Marquis does. I believe some of the older Power Mate Jr's did too, but I'm not sure. But yeah, I haven't seen any turbo tools that don't bog down. Maybe some of the bigger...

    Trash vacs

Today driving back from running errands I saw two uprights on the side of the road together. One was a red and black Hoover bagless of some kind, newer. The other was lying on the ground, didn't get a good look at what kind. But also newer.

What direct-air vacuums do you like?

I haven't tried a Kirby or Royal, but I do have a later plastic Eureka F&G and like it. Lightweight, durable, not too loud, easy to maintain and cleans very well. Also the bags are cheap and hold a lot, and with the Eureka Arm & Hammer bags, don't smell for a long time. I've got a Hoover...

    Unknown tank type vac

No, it was definitely Filter Magic.

    Unknown tank type vac

Filter Magic Yes, I believe that's it exactly. That looks like the tank and power nozzle. Never heard of this before, or haven't paid attention. I guess it's basically like a Filter Queen but water filtration instead of cyclonic filter cone. So maybe Rainbow crossed with Filter Queen.

    Unknown tank type vac

I saw a round metal type vacuum at Habitat. It was similar in shape to Filter Queen and it had a black power nozzle that I THINK said "Filter Pure" on it. But I can't find anything on that company. Anyone know what it could be? I should have taken a photo. I'm not sure on the name but it almost...

    My vacuum sightings

I'm guessing the Sebo. Someone was looking for one of those Hoover wet/dry vacs on here just recently.

    Caligula

This really should have been handled through email. His email address is right in his profile, there was no reason to start this thread of nonsense on here.

    My vacuum sightings

Yesterday I went to a thrift store out of town as I had the day off. There was a Kenmore Self Propelled Twin Fan upright with a bojack way of using a string to hold the bag up, a dark gray Hoover Futura canister, a yellow bagless Kenmore canister, and an early 90s white Craftsman portable...
