Blue hoover Rescued from Thrift Store

It's Cleaned Up I finally finished the Blue Hoover. I cleaned and lubed the brush roller. Used Magic Eraser on the scuffs and Windex on the base, Hood and underside. I installed a fresh belt as the original was oblong. A new inner bag is in place, and lastly taking a cue from one of Tom...

Bag #4 I like bags #2 and #4, but I am in agreement with Dave that bag #4's orange lettering would be a perfect complement to the badge.

    As Promised.......

Hi Charles-Richard, I did notice an address on the receipt of: 531 Hamilton Street, Allentown. That would have been right in the heart of the downtown. I am not sure what is at that address at the present time. I know it is near where a large rock music club is now (Crocodile Rock Cafe). Croc...

The Strange Hoover Model 707 Restoration

Beautiful I love the baby blue color. You did a great job in cleaning it up, it looks like it should be out on the sales floor of the department store. I did not realize that the outer bags could be soaked in the sink. I think I will try that with mine, as merely wiping it down just doesn't...

Blue hoover Rescued from Thrift Store

Thanks Chad, I will try to contact Kyle, maybe he can assist me. I appreciate all the info you gave me on this vacuum. I do not remember Century House as I grew up in NY and we had Service Merchandise, and I do not recall the other stores.

Oh and thank you for giving me a list of stores that sold this machine. I remember well Service Merchandise stores.

Blue hoover Rescued from Thrift Store

Thank you for the info Chad. I asked Tom Anderson about this machine and basically he told me the same thing. That it was a budget model sold through hardware and specialty stores. It was not promoted as heavily by Hoover as their main machines were and thus had a limited run.

    EUREKA EMPRESS II RotoMatic Powerteam

Well, Chad, by keeping the Eureka original, you've kept the best of the bunch. Yes $299-$329 was a lot for the 70's and even by todays standards; where people snap up 40 dollar dirt devils from wal-mart.

What I love about this vacuum, is the metal base on the underside. It feels "substantial" compared to the others I have with the plastic.
