    Kenmore Whispertone 90

This machine was at a rather pricey thrift shop, so I had to pay $45 for it, and the bags were $25. I'd like to recoup that, if possible. Having not seen one of these before, deciding on a price is a bit of a challenge. Michael

    Kenmore Whispertone 90

Here is the machine that I picked up a few weeks ago. Its power nozzle has to be one of the cleanest that I have encountered, with plenty of life left on the brush roll. If anyone is interested, shoot me an offer; I need to downsize!

    Michael, you're out of control!

Two more Hoovers found me this afternoon! Also included in this photo is the Rexair 4 quart that I picked up recently. So much for thinning the herd! It looks like my evening is spoken for! :)

    nss pig on craigslist

I was lucky enough to find mine at a thrift for $9.00! I just love it for the patio, garage, etc. They are crazy expensive to purchase from janitorial supply shops. I nearly choked when I looked at refurbished ones for sale. From what I've heard, his price isn't far off.

    oh no, a burst bag!

Oh, those Eff'n G bags! I have never had a problem with F&G's in older machines, but I found that for Sanitaires, and other newer machines with increased motor amperage, the bags blow out at the seams after MINIMAL dirt capture. I also found trouble with genuine Royal J bags used in my...

a new Hoover to brighten my spirits

The headlight lens was missing; I included the aluminum trim piece along with the lens when I installed it(it was missing when I purchased it: see first photo). I have no idea whether the Canadian machines had stopped using the trim piece by this time or not. Please let me know if it is...

a new Hoover to brighten my spirits

While still grumbling over being mistreated by yet another bigoted, faith-based thrift store employee, this peach Canadian model 711 appeared in the corner to brighten my day! The front lens and aluminum trim piece are missing, but I have a beater machine with a melted hood that I can salvage...

Another very rare bird goes for peanuts

Well! Now these are just getting down right common! Another one? Its missing it's rubber bumper and original tools. With all these deeply closeted Atlas'are coming out now; I don't know what to think! Michael

    Hoover Celebrity Quiet series!

I had one briefly... but was not impressed! The suction was great, but I found that the majority of fine dust simply blasted through the side of the bag opposite the intake hole, rather than collecting at the ends with the larger debris. I had come across some old bags that had an extra piece...

Well, that cleaned up nicely! a.k.a. My first Atlas!

I am glad that it meets your approval! At 6.75" in diameter, the paper bags for this are larger than those for Royal Powertanks, Airways, Electrolux XXX, etc, but smaller than those used in Compacts/Tristars, which are closer to 8". I believe they were at one time known as Eureka "J" canister...

What is this world coming to?

Oh! I know what you mean! There was a broad on Craigslist here trying to sell Royal upright belts and bags for more than I'd pay in a vacuum shop! If I am going to pay full price for parts, my money will be going to an old school, independent retailer, NOT some d-bag on CL. Michael

Well, that cleaned up nicely! a.k.a. My first Atlas!

After dismantling, washing, polishing, and waxing the unit, dismantling, cleaning, and lubricating the motor, installing a new hose, hand washing the gaskets, bag, and disk filter, and straightening out caster mounts that were bent due to inadequate cushioning during shipment, this machine is...

How many vintage Canadian Electroluxes are among us?

I went Elux hunting the other day at the Aerus/Electrolux dealer in Windsor, where I'd been lucky enough to score my 88 a few years back. It had come in as a trade in for a newer machine, and was stuffed in back with their junk and parts. This time a new manager pounced on me as I walked in...

Kenmore No.5010 bags: Are they still available?

Don't worry, its been saved! I had my folks pick it up for me, so no worries that it will hit the thrift store dumpster for not selling. I don't have access to the machine right now, but will post pictures when I do. Michael

Kenmore No.5010 bags: Are they still available?

So I'd better make a special trip back for it? Pops will likely have an embolism if he sees me drag in another cleaner...hmm... I wonder if I could modify the cardboard mount on No.5055 bags to fit this machine...hmm...but I need the rubber self closing feature of Elux bags...but I'm supposed...

Kenmore No.5010 bags: Are they still available?

Yes, the power nozzle was there, along with the triangular dusting brush, floor tool, upholstery tool, and maybe the crevice tool as well. Is this a scarce model?

Kenmore No.5010 bags: Are they still available?

Thank you for the info. I had an inkling that bags for this would be hard to come by, that is one of the reasons that I left this machine behind at the thrift, that and the fact that they wanted $40 for it. I have no photos of it; I will take some photos for you the next time I am able to stop...

Kenmore No.5010 bags: Are they still available?

I recently came across a Kenmore Whispertone 90, that looks similar the Whirlpool Bambi just found by Hans. It takes a No.5010 bag, that was sort of L shaped with a rubber around the opening, and didn't look at all like the 5055's that I am more familiar with. I tried to do a search online for...
