Are the original electric hoses even available for this? Will a generic hose have to be used with the original ends from what's left of that pile of..... vacuum hose.....stuff.

I've never seen any dusting brushes with a broken side. I've seen them with worn brushes which indicates they got good use. We have to remember these dual tools were made long before they came out with the sidekick which I would use over the older furniture tool anytime. I wish they would...

Worst condition or dirtiest vacuum you found?

Yes, if you do happen to get water in or on electrical parts, in addition to letting the appliance dry for several days with good air flow around it, one should also occasionally shake the appliance to knock out those areas where water pooled. It's also a good idea to lay the appliance in...

off to be primed and painted. Taking them outside in partial shade on a 90 degree day with a nice breeze. I'm also treating the original wall mount bracket. First they are sprayed with rubbing alcohol, then primed, and then painted. They don't have to be perfect, they will get a second coat...

Fitting the bag compartment The old utility valve hole. Even though the vacuum body is curved, the old hole is flat to accommodate the former utility valve. As a result the cover needs to be flat and have sunken corners that will bolt on. The edges have been folded to eliminate sharps that...

Building a Top Fill Central Vacuum out of old CV

Covering holes not needed Since I'm "remodeling" this vacuum it has some holes or openings I don't need AND I've needed to cut a new hole for the exhaust and remove the old motor guard and cut away some of the tapered metal on what was the top and will now be the bottom. Since the exhaust is...

Moreso just a general question I've thought about for a long time

I wouldn't consider Silver King, watermatic, or fairfax a standard canister vacuum either for the same reasons I stated above. We had an awful Silver King when I was growing up. It was loud, messy to empty with no bag, woven hose, couldn't do stairs..... it was bad.

I see two Hoover canisters of interest. Thanks for posting. Everytime I go to thrift store I forget to take in my camera. I've got to start doing that.

Moreso just a general question I've thought about for a long time

If it weren't for bad filtration, no cord rewind, exhaust air that tends to shoot out the back, and no noise suppression, I would be happy to consider it a canister. I tried that route a couple of times but was disappointed. This little cutey is a compact 10" wide and not much taller. It's...

Joshua, you need a new dusting brush. I noticed that yours is so worn the bristles are level with the rubber snout in the middle. That makes it fairly useless. The bristles should stick out about an inch past that. I love this dusting brush. Even though I use a central vacuum now, I still...

Worst condition or dirtiest vacuum you found?

That abused Kirby sounds severe. How in the world they got a sock in there? It sounds like you've done all the right things to bring it back and make it whole. It always amazes me that there are people like us who like to "fix" societies damaged things. From appliances to houses, to people...

Covid-19: Are your local vac shops open?

Interesting Do you have any other details? This is biased. "I’m not really sure anyone in their right mind would be utilizing their time resources wisely to listen to anything you have to say." Are you confident enough to state the real reason you feel that way?
