Whirlpool Kenmore Heavy Duty Plus Upright - parts help needed

Thanks for the reply Dan, but Sears is always my first point of reference. I used to work for Sears, from '02 to '04. At that time, parts availablity for these old Whirlpool machines was going out the window. I worked on many of them. Replaced many bases and motors. Right now, only a handful...

    Air Way Vacuum Motors

A picture of the motor would help, or at least the numbers from the tag on the motor.

Whirlpool Kenmore Heavy Duty Plus Upright - parts help needed

Requesting the help of the good people of Vacland! This machine is fairly nice, but the headlight lens is missing. That's what I'm trying to find. Otherwise, the unit is complete and works great. Not much indication of use. Please bear with me on the picture quality. It's not a well lit room...

    Power Tank

The Royal-branded power nozzle is the old Whirlpool design. You can get that replacement part from Panasonic or Hayden. DESCO has those base plates for pretty cheap.

    Jellybean Kenmore canisters

Kenmore put the original (flat on back side) Whispertone away by 2000. I think it was around '98 when the Progressive started rolling out. As far the jellybean Whisperone, I think you're pretty close on the year. The last of those were offered in like a Sky Blue color, and there was a (kinda...

    Opinions on Kenmore Whispertone Upright

Well, as far as the canisters, most of them with the Whispertone name had the hard rubber cartridge that the motor rested in. It didn't isolate motor vibration very much. Some of these were fairly quiet, but most were anything but whisper quiet. There were quite a few different grades of Lamb...

    Riccar or Panasonic

The 6800's weren't bad. They had the older style agitator housing/ base with the metal bottom plate, as opposed to the 6900's that used a cheaper housing with a plastic plate. The only issue would be wear to the catch on the main body that the release pedal grabs. They were't very strong. Some...

    Opinions on Kenmore Whispertone Upright

They're tough and reliable. We have the Panasonic version of this machine. It's yellow and black, has a 3-wire heavy cord, and was the TOL Panasonic commercial during the late 90's. Model MC-V400. There was also the MC-9901 in a gray color and red lettering, same basic machine. Would really...

Warm Up a Vacuum Cleaner ?

As it was said before about the cold hose being stiff, same goes for all other plastic parts, especially older plastics or really cheap vacs with low quality materials. Cold plastic breaks easier.

    Sears bags

The Ultracare thing I'm thinking "Ultracare" is just Sears' brand to slap on the OEM products. Technically, it's still "genuine". The Ultracare belts have the Sears part number printed on them.

    Kenmore canister hose

You'll want that replacement hose, as it is repairable with a new hose section. The older style hose has molded ends that couldn't be removed. Once the hose started tearing, it couldn't be cut down or replaced seperately.
