    OMG Fantom Fury in England!!!

Oh I wouldn't say they're that uncommon. Around here you find them all the time, aside from two SE Furys last summer that were well overpriced, I buy pretty much all that I find, I've gotta have more than a dozen Furys at the moment. Even the most uncommon Fantom products were made in droves...

    OMG Fantom Fury in England!!!

Looks really rough. I'm in the US but picked one up sans headlight cover for $6 like two weeks ago. Parts are limited in the US, I'd guess next to impossible in the UK. Decent vac but it's not a Thunder.

    The Thrift Stores today

Saw some interesting stuff today. Twin Chamber Tempo, Black Oreck XL, Windtunnel V2 bagless, older Hoover that had a hand vac that mounts onto the front. The Oreck was in great shape, but I typically only buy Fantoms and higher end stuff these days due to space constraints.

    New Rainbow e2 Blue

There isn't really a harm in buying it. You'll still be covered by buyer protection, the funds will be on hold and if they send you a fake or never send it you'll get a refund.

Cleaning company using Rainbows - what dyson owner missed?

Most Rainbow distributors operate the same way and don't do this. This sounds like a clever trick by someone down the chain or some smaller distributor that worked up the chain and is doing it independently. Clever though, clean a few rooms disgust the person and sell the vac or if not still...

    pro aqua

Get a Rainbow instead electroluxxxx pretty much sums it up. Long track record, USA made, parts availability, do it however you have to do it, even if it's a rebuilt. Treat it well it will last for ages. The new powerhead on the newest Rainbows works incredibly well.

    RIP Silver King?

Not mainstream enough They simply weren't mainstream enough. Virtually everyone knows what a Kirby or Rainbow is, but few if any will know what a Silver King is.

    How rare is...

Cleartrak is now the Workhorse http://www.cleartrak.com/cleartrak.html They appear to be selling brand new ones in this site as the Workhorse. I'm not sure if they acquired old inventory, assembled them for parts or they're just newly built but not for Amway. They also refurbish the Amway ones.

    How rare is...

Fantoms seem to be somewhat uncommon but you still see a disproportionate amount here in Western NY, primarily because they were sold locally before the major national rollout and the inventory was auctioned here when they went bankrupt. Thunders are far and away the most common, though I did...

    A Dyson that deep cleans!

Plastic Vacs disposable? Shoot my original Fantom is pushing 22 years. I just picked up a 17 year old Fury. What about all those Rainbow D4s which seem to last forever?

    WANTED: Fantom Thunder

I don't have time to box and ship one but I have quite a few and could part with one if you can find someone to pick one up? I've got them in various degrees of condition from parts to practically new. Might be branded as a Destiny or Destiny plus.

    Poor filtration on new vacuums

Some, like the Bissell Healthy Home at least try. I bought a cheap Eureka Airspeed for my breezeway and it was absolutely awful. I gave it to my friend for his apartment. Emptying the bin inside is fine with something like the Rainbow, most others you'll generate some dust.

    Two questions on Fantoms

It will work with a different switch, you can find the ones that fit under the rubber dome, then just fabricate a piece of plastic to hold it in place. Even if you get the original switch it will wear out again because it is rated lower than the motor draw, so the cycles and startup current wear...

    Two questions on Fantoms

Yes there is a Panasonic motor that fits the XT. I have to locate my info but that is true. Not sure about the conquest switch. All but the very original 9 amp Fantom you will likely never see will draw more amps. The original 11amp Fantom switch is rated at 10 Amps, this one is the one like...

Cyclonic vacuums vs Filter in bin vacuums

I'm surprised Euro-pro never attempted to simply make new copies of the Fantoms in China as the patents expired. They would still outperform the Euro-pro designs, they could have easily been modified for pre motor filters. I know the Thunder had a high parts count but the other designs were...

Cyclonic vacuums vs Filter in bin vacuums

I wouldn't really say Dyson has perfected cyclonic dirt separation, there still is working room. They don't even have the best filtration using the design, The 11 amp Fantom Thunder does the best job by far of dry multi cyclonic separation, probably followed by a well maintained DC07. I think if...

    Cord Cutters?????

I cut any cord off anything I throw out, mainly because I use the cords when good to replace cords on other stuff I find in need of a replacement cord. If I toss a vac, which is rare, I most definitely cut the cord off because long replacement cords are not that cheap.

    Dyson Cinetic doesn't work well.

The seperator in the Rainbow will still sling some of the non wettable dirt back out, the original design of the machine used no water. I still stand by my statement that the 11amp Fantom Thunder was the best implementation of Dyson's own technology.

im in a frantic search for a Fantom Thunder brushroll

Springs & brushroller Small black one is the carry handle. Trying to jog my memory it's been a while since I did anything with one of these but I worked on quite a few but they use a boatload of parts, over 200. The other springs that immediately come to mind are wand release, the bin handle...
