    Confusing market

Rainbow It requires a certain level of discipline to use one regularly but if you have to you do. It is one of the few vacuums my wife can use and empty without asthma issues. The more you use it, the less of an issue the water is, it becomes no different than using a bagless vacuum but you put...

Did anyone see the Shark takeoff of Rainbow?

It is pretty junky, had one in my hands at a thrift store, but a Rainbow it isn't. I suppose it has some collectors value working, I don't think I'd consider it for any other reason. After getting my E Series for $20 I couldn't stomach $30 for a poorly made imitation.

Dysons Twice the Suction claim - is it true?

Other bagless machines Airspeed One is flimsy, I gave it to my friend. I'm seeing them in thrift stores already! I ended up buying a Bissell Healthy Home to vacuum the breezeway (I prevaccum my breezeway with it before using my Rainbow) from the Ollie's display models for half off instead. The...

Dyson Is At It Again - Court Action

Any vacuum cared for very well probably will last 20 years. This is a bizarre. I'd never have ruled in favour of Dyson on this.

    EWW!

The Fantom beating a Dyson is no surprise, better brush roller design. The solid plastic air inlet. Awesome motor. I'm pretty certain the Fantom Thunder was amongst the best bagless cyclonic designs ever made in terms of overall build quality and performance. When I run across these used they...

    Quality ...

I use a classic 3'to vacuum my garage carpet, I wouldn't be too concerned about fan breakage.

Which vacuum stands the test of time?

I sell Rainbows part time, the D4 is holding up remarkably well if you don't mind a used vac. I prefer my single speed E Series, it is quieter, easier to use. The powerhead on the newest ones is fantastic. Like others have said, you either have time to use the water or not, but if you don't...

Bissell Healthy Home HEPA filters on Clearance at Lowes

Just thought I'd pass the word along, some of the local Lowes here in Buffalo had them as low as $2. I only bought what I felt was a supply that will last the life of the vac as I am using it to vacuum a wood stove. If this a nationwide deal and you own the vac, it might be worth looking into.

    Odd Rainbow thrift store story

Debating finding a body, I already have a D4 I use upstairs and an E Series downstairs which I admit are both from thrift stores. I paid $200 for the D4 complete but it came with the E series aquamate found the E Series about a year later for $20, a single speed E Series was still current when I...

    Odd Rainbow thrift store story

Took a ride to a seldom visited thrift store and was walking around noticed a Rainbow D4Se power nozzle hose and instructions plus a new genuine belt to boot. It was priced at $6. I take it to the register the lady asked if I was happy with Goodwill find and I said yes, it's a great deal. Turns...

Kirby questions - bag smells and shampoo system ect

Matt, I don't disagree. Rainbows have issues of their own, but it will never smell and will shampoo a carpet quite well. They all have great airflow. The newest powerhead is great and they are easier to use with attachments. On top of that they are fairly reliable D4s are everywhere stateside...

Kirby questions - bag smells and shampoo system ect

Having 5 Kirby's and 2 Rainbows I can see Tom's points here. Having a dog & 3 cats and having used many different vacuums I concur that a Rainbow never smells, unless you put fragrances in the water (or leave water in the bin & store it, which should never be done). What he didn't really...

    Rainbow e series mold

Oh it doesn't hurt to run the Rainbow sanitizer every couple of vacuumings, it has a bit of alcohol in it which should kill all the nasty stuff.

    Rainbow e series mold

Usually this happens if you store it on a damp bin. While it does look like the start of mold it could also be mineral deposits from very hard water would almost have to see it up close to tell. If you don't mind touching it, if it is mineral deposits it will have a very gritty feel, almost like...

    Fantom Wildcat brushroller bearing

I am about 20 miles from a shop that carries all sorts of bearings. I can probably pull the bearing off with two pairs of locking pliers, which does not matter if I need or ruin a bearing. Originality would be nice but I should be grateful to have 3 wildcats.

    Rainbow Super Mop attachemnt??

I prefer the Rain Jet, but the Supermop is pretty decent. The Rainbow can suck water through the pad but the pad does retain water. It doesn't cost that much more than a standalone device along the same lines, so if you plan on buying one anyway it is no loss on your part. The Rain Jet is more...

    More Target Plastivacs!

The Thunder was Fantom's best vacuum properly cared for it will hold up and that has been proven, 11 amp ones are pushing 20 years old. The canister portion of the Lightning was decently built the powerhead had issues, but it is not hard to find the working canister. The body of the Fury is...

I WANT A FANTOM THUNDER FOR CHEAP AND IT MEANS ALOT TO ME

Wish I could help you out but shipping would cost probably $50. I have maybe 15 Thunders, Destiny 11 & 12 amp models ranging from good runners to nearly new. However if you or your family passes through the Buffalo area drop me an email.

    Fantom Wildcat brushroller bearing

Anyone got an idea where to get one, perhaps a bearing shop, machine shop? Got another of these and the Vacuum is perfectly fine except for this bearing, it looks like an off the shelf part. I attached a picture, I can always measure it if it would help.

Rainbow vs. Fantom Thunder, last vac wins the demo, in response to Kill a Kirby

A properly maintained Fantom does not create a massive dust cloud when turned on, at least the Thunder doesn't. I doubt many would maintain the Thunder to that level. I clean the seal to the canister and the bottom cone seal, and the seal to the HEPA any time I remove the filter housing. I...
