    Dating Hoover 28s

Painting So it really is just in need of some cosmetic restoration. After disassembly I sand it down with 220 grit and mask off the parts I don't want painted. This one was plagued with snafus so it ended up getting 4 coats BTW the bag had been put on backwards, how many years ago I couldn't...

    Dating Hoover 28s

Hi all, here are two Hoover 28s and I am noticing some differences between them, most notably that fancy trim on the I think newer one. I know these had a long run, just curious if anyone has done a history on them or knows some more about them. The far one is serial number 2746077 while the...

New cord for my Hoover 28

Here it is with the new brown cord BTW I thought I would clean up the white cord which I saved for perhaps a future restoration. Boy, I must have scrubbed that thing for a half hour with soft scrub with bleach to get it to look okay. Not so hot on white cords... Thanks for looking

New cord for my Hoover 28

Well, I was inspired to go through the effort of changing the white cord on my Hoover 28, by a recent thread here where a member had done a similar thing. I was able to track down a more recent but brown cord that fit fine. It is a little lighter brown than the origial would have been but I...

Two Kirby 561 handles, is one a replacement?

Thanks all For the information. But it sounds like the older Kirbys had the smooth wand and then were followed by the ridged ones? 509/510.

    Finished Hoover & Lux

Great job I can tell that black cord looks much better than the white one would have, did you salvage that off of another machine?

    Premier 35

Can anyone tell me a little more about this vacuum? This was my daily driver for about 20 years. I sold it a few years ago and now I have a little seller remorse... this was before I was interested too much in vacuums I just wanted something retro. In searching through the archives I don't...

Well, it all works out in the end, I hope

I did look up Janitoric in the search box and noticed there weren't too many entries. I think this nozzle is normal though, so it is the only thing Janitoric about this, I won't throw it away...

Well, it all works out in the end, I hope

Frankenkirby Well, I picked this up off craigslist the other day, thinking it was a Dual Sanitronic 50, but the craigslist photo is sooo bad I can't quite make it out. Anyway it is actually a 80 with the 50 bag and this Janitoric handle. (I already have an 80 that I've fixed up) I thought...

Well, it all works out in the end, I hope

Well, I picked up this 516 a few months ago, and was informed that it has the wrong belt lifter on it. Fortunately a kind member here sent me the proper one, so this one is just waiting for some free time this winter for the spa treatment...
