1929 eureka in need of a part

Oh a Portal reference on a vacuum cleaner discussion board I guess this is the very definition of a non-sequitor? :) (for those of you who aren't familiar, see link) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_(video_game)

    Electrolux query

kenkart covered pretty much everything, but... The Diamond J is indeed a metal body lux (probably one of the last); and the Sidekick was an optional accessory. I have one as my daily driver, it works pretty well, but I do fear the motor may burn out at some point, even if I do take care of it...

    Help! Electrolux Legacy Problems!

    > i had that problem i think the problem was the little hoses inside the vacuum arnt put on properly Yeah, that's about right. Electroluxes use a series of vacuum lines inside to measure suction, and to activate the bag-full light. The process is almost completely mechanical, and as far as I'm...

Electrolux Shag Rug Tool - ideas on which division it came from?

I just snagged this thing off of eBay for a whole dollar (well, $5.99 shipped). Lux shag rug tools appear to be next to impossible to find. It's a bit peculiar, and doesn't appear to be from Electrolux USA. To start with, it doesn't look anything like the one documented in the Super J's...

Question about wiring on Vintage Vacuums

I'd be highly doubtful that it's anything other than just a direct shot from the wall, to the switch, to the motor. No one worried about that sort of the safety of handling line voltage - heck, people didn't even worry about it in PCs until the ATX power supply design took over (around 1998)...

    Don't buy a Garry

    > They ship them wheather you need them or not. Unless they have you sign a contract subscribing you to such a plan, this is illegal in the most consumer-friendly way possible - you get to keep the bags for free.

What was you parents first vacuum!????

My mom had a Electrolux Super J, which she got shortly after my grandmother upgraded to a Diamond J. The Super J is long gone, but the Diamond J is now in my closet and still runs fine!

    Im so mad !!!!!!!!

You know, an experienced PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) guy may be able to get that out (though the old paint may be a challenge - or is that enameled?). Those old Luxes are made out of steel, correct? Disassemble the cleaner, and pick up your yellow pages and see if you can find someone who's...

    Hoover Steam Mop

I'll be interested to see what the reviews end up looking like. At $150, it's cheaper than a lot of the good steam mops on the market, but many in that price range end up being useless. I've got tons of concrete floors in my house and I would love to use a steam mop instead of a sponge :(

    Hoover Elite problem please help

That's a pretty vague description, but I'd speculate either your power cord or switch is faulty if absolutely nothing happens when you flip the switch. Time to get out your voltmeter and start checking for voltage! Otherwise, turn it on, and let us know if you smell or hear anything at all.

    Electrolux find

Hesco (http://www.hescoinc.com/) has them pretty cheap, though I have no idea on the quality. (Model numbers to look for are EL-8000 and EL-9900) I bought mine from GoVacuum.com, on the other hand, and it's been pretty okay. The swivel isn't as free as I'd like, and the vent is too easy to...

Considering retrofitting Electrolux afterfilters to old canisters, and have questions...

Hi all, I'm feeling ambitious and considering constructing something to retrofit the afterfilter that goes on later C-style bag Electroluxes (the High-Tech 2100/Diplomat and on) to older canisters (the ones with the upward-facing exhaust ports, the 1205 through the Marquise). First, does...

    Electrolux Trilobite

The Trilobite came out around the same time the iRobot Roomba did, and was quite expensive in comparison. That said, it was a much more complicated autonomous system - rather than the Roomba's run-into-walls-until-i-can't-and-then-zip-around-haphazardly algorithm, the Trilobite used sonar to...

Miele White Pearl won't turn on

That sounds like a broken power switch. I'd be surprised if your local Miele dealer would charge you more than $25 to fix it.

    > Bet the dont treat their cars like this! ahahaha hahah hahahahaha hah. go talk to your trusted mechanic about that one.

    Your Daily Driver

Diamond Jubilee With a new replacement hose! As well as the gigantic stack of filter bags it came with (both of those boxes are open, but full) I've also got a Hoover Tempo (that's been more or less set to being used as a backup - I don't have enough carpet around here to warrant an upright)...
