So I was searching the web and came across a few post on facebook. Appearantly the avalir platinum got some upgades. From what it looks like, it looks as if they did away with the fill tube on the inside of the permanant bag and added some sort of muffler tube? Not sure what the purpose of this is. It looks as if they did it to help make the machine more quieter (about time). My question is, is this just when using the machine as a vacuum or is this also applied to other cleaning modes such as canister cleaning and carpet shampooing. Like is it just the bag system that got the noise reduction upgrade or did the machine get some sort of interal upgrade to make it more quieter.

Can you link to that please because I'm curious! Surprised they didn't go for a thicker outer bag too. One draw back is the thinner bags look a bit uhhhhhh odd then the fill tube is pressed against the front

Yeah in the uk we have had it since the Av2 because of the EU noise regulations i know the platinum has been out for a while now but I’m interested to see if the next model is even more quieter

Really? What do they look like and how do they affect airflow? I'm actually really curious lol

Unsure about the bag's thickness but they added a muffler to the filltube. And they did....something with the cooling air exhaust too.

These are what I was talking about. So is the machine itself more quieter when not using the bag. Like for example is it going to be quieter when using the system as a blower/sprayer as well as using the MS3, which this would really benefit that accesory when cleaning hard surface floors. Also is the machine going to be more quieter when using it in canister mode? I say that because the system tends to be even more louder when using hose type accessories. They shouldve came out with this noise reduction stuff when they first launched the platinum model. It couldve been a key selling point at launch.

Absolutely! That should have been a main selling point considering how the Platinum is no different from the A2.

I have to wonder how that muffler works in canister/handheld mode and how it works on older models.

I did some research on tiktok just not too long ago and I noticed somebody had a newer model is she replied the bag is much sticker on this one than the older models

This is what I found on YouTube. The guy in the video is one of the most knowledgeable vacuum cleaner repair and sales experts out there. He reviews nearly every vacuum cleaner built and sold in the U.S., as well as many models from other countries. I haven’t finished watching the entire video yet, but it should help answer some of your questions.

While I think it's great they found a way to quiet the machine down, I am however concerned about not being able to wash the outer bag in the washing machine like I do with my other Kirbys. If it won't come as an option then I'd pass. But I'd never buy a brand new Kirby anyways.

Oh boy. The Kirbisti are not going to be happy with his opinion of its carpet cleaning abilities.

I have an Avalir 2. I bought a clean used nozzle for it off eBay, polished it up nice, removed the brush roll and belt and keep that nozzle fitted with their floor dusting attachment that clips on the bottom. The floor dusting attachment is plastic, has smaller openings and a felt squeegie at the back. It does a surprisingly good job of cleaning tile and laminate. I had low expectations that were exceeded. Doing hard floors the way he did in his video is all wrong however.

My question is what made kirby decide to bring this feature to existence and now have it distributed to other countries? Where consumers complaining about the noise level of a kirby (no shocker)

To me this looks cheap without the bag toppers. The same can be said about the platinum model as well.
Yeah I agree the bag topper being missing is uncanny and the Platinum it's probably the most boring design they had yet.
And I actually like the previous two Avalirs too

Found more updated outer bags on some EU model A2s
Interesting they dont have bag toppers anymore and stitching is different. Looks to be even thicker than the pre Gsix modles https://www.kirbyservice.eu/en/kirby-avalir-2-compleetzipbrush-fabrieksnieuw/View attachment 170435
Looking at the detailed images of the Platinum innards it seems that an Avalir 2 owner with some experience disassembling Kirbys, and the new parts and right piece of closed cell foam could update their Avalir 2 to Platinum spec. In the fullness of time I will have to do this.

Yeah I didn’t like the platinum at first such a boring colour change from the Av2 i just hope that they have a much more interesting design for their next model

In all fairness avalir's 2 and platinum arent even much of a color change. Thery're both just acsent color change. In fact with the platinum they did that and then nothing else. They also didn't give the platinum a unique pattern scheme like they did previous models. Its just plain and boring. I do think kirby needs to ditch the black color and give us a true color change and not an acsent color. Also theres no difference in both avalir 2 and platinums power nozzle compare to how older models would have different variations to differenciate what nozzle would go with what model. They also ditch the color handle on the avalir 2 and went back to black just like the original avalir. I personally think kirby has gotten lazy in terms of designing and coloring there machines. Yes i get black is cheaper to make but when your charging an arm and leg for kirby, especially now and days you want it to have something that sets it apart from the previous models other than a silly acsent change. I do think kirby should've launched this muffler/ sound supression technolgy when the platinum originally lauched and not almost 2 years latter. Or they could've just launched a new model with a true new color scheme and have the muffler and sound supression be a huge selling point. I am curious to how noisy the system will be when using it in canister, shampoo, and blower mode with the sound supression technology.

Agreed. I'm really hoping for a more 'out there's color for it. Maybe something in the purples or greens.

G4 with it's space blue and G5 with it's beautiful burgundy is something I'd like to see return too

I'm also on the function side as well. But when functionality and cosmetics look the same and basically are the same with minimal differences, especially on the last 3 models then it just means they've gotten lazy and lost of hope for something truly new. Yes you could say if it aint broke don't fix it, but at some point its gotta change. Now granite I will give them credit for this new sound reduction system but that was long overdue to most homes now having mainly hard surface floors. I sure wouldn't want to be pushing a kirby on hard floors with it being as loud as they are. I am curious to see how much more quiet these new platinum units are compare to older kirby's.
