USA Semiquincentennial in 2026 - Anniversary Models?

The United States of America is planning to celebrate its Semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary, in 2026.

I'd like to see industries, such as the electric floor & surface appliance one, designate anniversary-themed products to mark the occasion as The Hoover Company and The Eureka Company did for our Bicentennial in 1976.


My ideas include sealed HEPA vacuum cleaners :

1. Aerus - Model XXX replica with power nozzle and Lux Floor Pro

2. Eureka - rebranded Sanitaire Tradition-style upright with headlight, ST bag assembly, Quick Kleen (similar to the classic F & G)

3. Hoover - Convertible upright with headlight

4. G-E - Swivel-Top canister


What say you? I'm also curious to know if any other country's electric floor & surface care appliances have had their own anniversary-themed models in the past?
 
The upcoming 250th anniversary is certainly getting a low-key treatment, compared to the 1976 Bicentennial. I remember things gearing up for that one as early as 1973 or '74, and continuing for a little while afterward, all in signature tacky '70s fashion. I guess it also served as a comforting distraction from the recently ended war in Vietnam and other social ills of the day.
 
I agree with what you all have said so far, but in addition, I'd like to see Royal bring back their metal uprights and tanks, but of course that's not going to happen since Royal isn't really Royal anymore. Would be nice to see Air-Way and Silver King make a comeback too!

You know the Metrovac Evolution full size canister is a lot like an old Royal. They are all metal and pretty solid. I'v never had a Royal canister to compare it to ( in the fullness of time I will have one ) but they look pretty similar to like a Royal 400 series. I have one of the Metrovacs and am pretty happy with it so far.

So there you are with a 1960 vintage vacuum that had thoroughly modern direct connections from the vinyl hose to the canister and on the other end from the hose handle to the wand. Clean, no pig tails at either end. How many more decades did pig tail connections persist on other brands of vacuum? Some like Patriot, Filter Queen and Metrovac still require the user to futz around with pig tail connections. Ok Lewyt had direct connect too but their configuration got people electrocuted! The Whirlpool / Kenmore configuration was safe. Plus Electrolux persisted with leaky woven cloth hoses well into the 1980s but here was Kenmore with an electric vinyl hose in 1960. Whirlpool and Kenmore were way ahead of their time. A modern iteration of the old Whisper Tone ( originally two words ) but smaller and lighter would be joy to have, as would a modern take on that L-shaped power nozzle.
 
Some group of enthusiast entrepreneurs should buy the rights to the Tristar, Compact, Revelation and Interstate Engineering Company names from Aerus and revive Tristar. To make the business case a revived Tristar, considering the tariffs Jupiter ( the orange colored gas giant ) imposed on aluminum, it would probably have to be made from the same plastic that Patriots are made but it would be an opportunity for a re-design to improve their performance, specifically larger diameter wands, hose and exhaust to improve their meager by modern standards airflow but still keeping it simple and basic.

That is a beautiful Royal tank you have there! Similar to the 408 I used to have. Powerful, quiet, and easy to use! Mine has the older power nozzle but it works well. My son has it now, one of 4 he took with him when he bought a house and moved out. The collection was something we did together, so he'll eventually get the rest of them.

In the fullness of time I will acquire one of these with the Whirlpool / Panasonic power nozzle.
 
I don't know about Whirlpool or Panasonic nozzles being used by Royal, but I believe most of their power nozzles were made by Air-Way or Filter Queen. I'm sure Tom G. would know for sure who built which one. Here's a pic of my model 31X Filter Queen with power nozzle for comparison.

Royal 4650s came with Whirlpool / Panasonic power nozzles in both burgundy and blue. Here is a burgundy example on eBay

OK, they must have changed their power nozzle supplier for the later models. But I do know that the earlier ones were from Air-Way or Filter Queen.

I think it was towards the end of the line of the big steel pony tanks that they were equipped with Whirlpool / Panasonic power nozzles. Airway Sanitizor also sold a version of the Model 88 with the same Whirlpool / Panasonic power nozzle.
 
Yes, and when I saw the 4-digit model number I realized you were referring to the later models. Thank you for the info.
