Ours must've been the '83 model, as I don't remember that PN. On a side note, did the 1756 come without the Cordaway, because I don't recall ours ever having a provision for one.kirbylux77
Rob,
Look what I found, and for real...
It does exist, but still it is very rare! This was only used on the 1982 model 1756A, before being replaced by the common version from 1983 and later.

Yours was likely a model-type 1756-B if your family purchased it in 1983 with the later powerhead. You're correct that it lacked the Cordaway.Ours must've been the '83 model, as I don't remember that PN. Thanks a million! The way my folks got it from what I've been told, was as a shipment that got rejected by the customer, and evidently Eureka wasn't able (or willing) to accept it as a return. Lasted until at least 2003, when it went into storage and got lost.Yours was likely a model-type 1756-B if your family purchased it in 1983 with the later powerhead. You bet! That model was sold until around 1990 according to newspaper ads, so it must have been a good seller. Thanks a million! Here's one with a 1743

Not mine. Just a video I found showing that configuration power nozzle on a different model Eureka.I believe you have a 1982 model 1743A.

You will probably wrinkle your nose at this but for my four old steel body Eureka power teams ( one of which is an Ironisides with Kenmore Heavy Duty branding ! ) I have all the original hoses and power nozzles, but I also have my "working" hose and power nozzle. The working hose is something I found from Canada that I think was sold by Superior Vacuums, the house brand of Hibbert International. It's a nearly ten foot long silver central vacuum style crush proof hose very similar to what came on later Eurekas with a black central vacuum hose handle ( not Plastiflex though ) and the other end is black molded cuff and hose end designed to fit old Tristars or similar ( Miracle Mate or Patriot ) complete with a nice black pig tail cord. It has an on-off rocker switch for the power nozzle. I simply heated up the hose cuff, pried out the Tristar hose end and glued in a Eureka hose end. Amazingly you can still buy them. Then I have my working Vibra Groomer power nozzle with a nice line of small holes drilled along the very nose of the sole plate so it doesn't latch on plush carpets and the upper wand is a central vacuum direct connect wand. This makes my interface with the vacuum and carpet feel more modern and the longer hose overcomes one of my only criticisms of those old machines, their too short cords and hoses. Also this way I leave the original hoses and power nozzles untouched and only put wear and tear on my working hose and power nozzle.Love these early Eureka Power teams! This one has the more comfortable and safer hose handle, too.
