Look what I found, and for real...
It does exist, but still it is very rare! This was only used on the 1982 model 1756A, before being replaced by the common version from 1983 and later.

Yours was likely a model-type 1756-B if your family purchased it in 1983 with the later powerhead. Thanks a million! The way my folks got it from what I've been told, was as a shipment that got rejected by the customer, and evidently Eureka wasn't able (or willing) to accept it as a return.
