Hi everyone,

First time poster here, got a few questions, and thought I'd let everyone know what I have:

1998 Sanitaire S663 Type D (think it's from the Blue Line? Base looks black but under a flashlight it's a very dark blue) - my workhorse

2005 Sanitiare SC5331 ("Mighty Mite") Canister

1960's Royal "Electro Hygiene" Canister Vac Model 666
(belonged to my Mother - still runs great)

I don't like the new vacuums, my opinion, sorry, are they are flimsy plastic things. These vacuums belonged to my departed parents, I had a Hoover Windtunnel 3 Max I bought in 2019, but I don't even use it anymore.

But anyways my question - I want to keep using my vacuums for the remainder of my life because I love them and keep equipment that will last for years - I wanted to check with the group if anyone knows where I can source a NOS USA or Mexico motor for my S663 at a reasonable cost, and if possible, an old motor for my Electro Hygeine. I've also been looking for the rubber gaskets vs. the foam ones Sanitaire is now selling. It'll be a bit before I can buy the motors but wanted to check to see with the group if any of this is even available anymore?

Thanks guys & gals, happy vacuuming! :-)

You can still get a brand new metal motor for your Sanitaire. There's a company that makes copycats of Sanitaires like the Bissell Big Green (coincidentally Sanitaire is also owned by Bissell now), they use metal motors that'd fit on your Sanitaire.

Yeah I've noticed others have copied Sanitaire/Eurekas, including Niflisk, Banks, another company I forget, and I guess now Bissell thanks to you :-) Do you know the name of the company that makes the motors (can't be Ametek), or a part link?

Thanks! :-)

Actually the ones that were made by Nilfisk, Triple S, Kent, or Powr-Flite were made by Electrolux AB and now Bissell in Mexico. The company who made Banks, Levax, Oreck, or Perfect were made by a Chinese manufacturer who also makes machines for the Bissell Big Green Commercial line. Sounds odd but working at the vacuum store in the past, I can tell the difference between the two since we've sold both before. Anyways, Bissell does sell the motor on their website. While it says it'd fit on their following models, I've had motors interchanged between the two before and thereby should fit.
