hoover steam vac I have one too. They pay for themselves after a few uses. The water returns so dirty. I never tried to repeat the procees to see if any more dirt comes up. I have also mixed a little Oxy-Clean with the solution. I had an older model and I would see stains come up a few days...

royal vs. kirby It seems to me that the Royal Upright is a cheaper or inferior version of a Kirby. The Kirby is much better than a royal. I know I had a Royal but I will always keep my Kirby. vacman27

blue connie Thanks for the advice. There are a couple of nasty looking yellow 86's but costly with shipping. A few weeks there was a NOS handle for sale from Great Britain but I let it go as I did not need it at the time.

Lux XXX suction If the hose is the old cloth type, it will hamper the suction. They have leaks and should be replaced. The old cloth hoses become stiff and difficult to use. http://vacman27
