    Kirby Model C Armature Removal

Thanks Duane! I'll need to try that. It could be that after all these years, gunk has built up around it, preventing removal.

    Kirby Model C Armature Removal

Hi all! I am getting ready to wet sand the motor housing for a Kirby Model C and cannot figure out how to remove the armature. Usually, I am able to just pull them out without much fuss, but this one seems to be stuck as if a special tool is required for removal. It does spin freely, though. I...

    Kirby Cloth Bag Identification

I'm not sure about it originally having red paint as there is no trace of it on the bag (just gold is shown). Also, the vertical stripes are solid on this mystery bag whereas the vertical stripes on bags with red paint are dashed (on ones that I've seen). But, then again, if it did have red...

    Kirby Cloth Bag Identification

...   The only other explanation I can think of is if it went to one of the Model R series. Maybe this was to distinguish the Model R series from the C series. Maybe Kirby gave them a different bag color to go along with the switch in the handles? (just a thought)   Quite the mystery!

    Kirby Cloth Bag Identification

Hi Evan,   The bag serves as the Vacuette's dirt collector (although not original to the machine) so I plan to keep it for now. Thanks for the offer though.

    Kirby Cloth Bag Identification

... After removing the bag hanger, it looks like the original bag color was blue... I always thought the older Kirby bags were black.

    Kirby Cloth Bag Identification

I have a Kirby Vacuum cloth bag that is a mystery to me as to which model it belongs to. I haven't seen the solid-lined gold logo before. It came on an old Vacuette Electric so I know it is not original to that machine. I am thinking it goes to a Model 505 or 508? I believe the Model "C" series...

    Fantom Fury Vacuum Cleaner

I knew I forgot to post something! I meant to attach a pic of the Fantom in my original thread. Please excuse the quality of the photo as it was taken with my cell phone and I'm a bit shaky. (My puppy Lola is at bottom left)

    Fantom Fury Vacuum Cleaner

Hi Everyone!   My Mom has asked me to restore her favorite vacuum cleaner, the Fantom Fury (model FY-51), to its former glory. Great news to me, but I have been unable to find the part I need to complete it. The vacuum itself is in overall great shape except for the fact that it will not...

    Another Kirby Restoration: Heritage

No problem! Shiny Kirbys distract me too! The sticks of polish were purchased at my local Sears Hardware store, as was the bench grinder/polisher, but I believe the sticks can be purchased separately for convenience.

"Wet-Sanding" Hi Louis!   To polish a Kirby and remove those stubborn age spots, I sand the aluminum with sandpaper that is wet with ordinary tap water and Dawn dish soap. I usually start with 400 grit sandpaper (or 220 if really rough), add a lot of elbow grease, then work my way up to 800...

    Another Kirby Restoration: Heritage

Background info: I obtained the Kirby Heritage off of Craigslist in Port Richey, Florida this summer. It was in a storage unit for a while and needed some TLC. The motor and bearings work fine, but the aluminum was rough from being exposed to weather changes for several years while in storage...
