    Model 61 holiday find

He is working on a commercial cleaner from Hoover. It is either a model 90, 91, 913, 918...etc. Looks like he has removed the top half of the motor and just has the motor base and handle release. Note the round foot operated pedal to lower the handle. Definitely Hoover! --Tom

    My Hoover Model 638

John...(drooling onto shirt...) This is a BEAUTIFUL Hoover Cleaner. I am so impressed with the completeness of the unit and the AMAZING condition. Thanks for sharing the photos. I have looked at them over and over. I am always surprised to see the foot switch and the external cord which was so...

    P.O.D 23/7

Seamus... Ah yes, but that look is only skin deep. The 26 had the top side tool conversion and the "spring" loaded rear wheels that adjusted to carpet thickness differences. The 305 had fixed rear wheels and the belt had to be removed to attach the tools. The 305 also was built with either/or...

Help with vac bag identification 'H' ?

I agree with Marty...this is an aftermarket bag set up for a Hoover Cleaner (coffee can model of some sort). I like the look of this black bag. Most of them were brown and not nearly as detailed as this one. Thanks for sharing the photo with us all. --Tom

    one of my dream machines

Wow Phillip! You got yourself a very nice Hoover Convertible there. They usually do not fare that well over the years since folks don't often take care of them. I can't imagine keeping a vacuum for that long and then just giving it up. I wonder why she traded it? Do you think it was the weight...

    Aunt Ruth's Eureka...

Jeff... That machine is beautiful. I have never seen that type of hood without a headlight. I like the brushroll as they rival Hoover in terms of cleaning. Your aunt certainly took very good care of this machine and probably will continue to do so. I can imagine that it would be easy and...

    Decades of HOOVERS

John... LOVE THE HOOVERS! Those are some of my favorite uprights. Inquiring minds want to know what you are bringing "home" to North Canton??? --Tom

What was the first power head?

Yeah, Hoover! H. Earl was quite an asset to the company. He was the son of Frank K. Hoover which was Boss Hoover's brother who gave quite a bit of $$$$ to help fund the early stages of the Hoover Suction Sweeper Company. I believe that H. Earl having a job at Hoover meant that there could be...

What in the Name of Henry Dreyfuss Have We Here?

Thanks Jack...I never realised this converter was so rare...I will have to look through my odd loose converters...I may have one lurking around yet. You are quite lucky to have the whole 425 ensemble. Beautiful machine. --Tom

Jack... I do hope that you can make it to this VERY SPECIAL VCCC convention here in North Canton...at my super duper garage sale first come first served...(wink) I even have a complete tool set for a 150 that will be going with everything else! I have to thin out the herd so to speak. The...

    how to de-dog a Dyson?

You could always set it on fire! Just a joke:) You will have to take as much of it apart and wipe it out. I like the scent of Simple Green. It works well on plastic parts. The filters will probably have to go. --Tom

What in the Name of Henry Dreyfuss Have We Here?

Marty... You definitely have a talent and a passion for these machines. I have never seen one let alone 4 that have been so carefully restored from less than perfect examples. To get the paint that nice one would have to totally disassemble the machine which as you know is not an easy feat...

Where can I find an owner's manual/instructions for an old HOOVER Floorwasher?

I do not have a manual for the floor washer...this was Hoover's first attempt at a wet pick up machine. According to a friend (his father designed it!), it was known as Hoover's Edsel. It took lots of $$$ to bring to market and it did not sell nor was it around for long. The Floor A Matic on the...
