Kirby probably has a stock pile of Avalir 2s they want to sell before they offer the Platinum online. According to the website, the multifloor kit for the Avalir 2 is out of stock.

I'll pass on this one since I just bought my new Avalir 2. I really like the blue trim on this model, but then again I guess I would since I have a lot of fond memories of the Tradition.

I disagree I like the blue scheme of the Avalir 2 and the big blue K on the bag. I think it looks sharp and you definitely cannot deny that it's a Kirby. It's probably one of the reasons I decided to buy it. Then again, I liked the Tradition too. :-)

I agree with VacuumDevil. The motor does in deed have brushes, but that is least likely the cause. More likely would be a faulty cord winder, in which case they can be expensive to replace. Like VacuumDevil said, the machines usually have a 5 or 7 year warranty, with other parts being one...
