How old is my Eureka Boss?

Could have been made yesterday.... They still sell these things. http://hdsupplysolutions.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10051&productId=22624&parentCategoryId=10319&categoryId=10392

My Hellish Experience with a Hoover Elite Supreme

More thoughts on the Elite I actually use an Elite as my daily driver. (I'm clumsy; this way I won't be too upset if I drop it or suck up a marble or something. <br They actually clean carpets pretty well, when they're working properly. Better than most modern vacuums. I definitely prefer one...

My Hellish Experience with a Hoover Elite Supreme

Not that it's any help to you now... but the instruction manuals for the Elites, and most every hoover back to (at least) the early '70s are on Hoover's website <br I agree, though...the Elites seem to have been designed by jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts. http://www.hoover.com/db/hvrShopSearch.asp

    Maytag Satellite Discontinued :(

Maytag Whirlpool, which owns Maytag, is no longer a corporate relative of the U.S. Hoover Company. (I mean...the North American Floorcare division of TTI Corp, Hong Kong.) I'm guessing Maytag-Whirlpool no longer has the rights to sell this under the Maytag name. Click the link below, by the...

    Advice Needed-Canister Vacuums For Allergies

Nilfisk The Nilfisk machines are supposed to be the absolute last word in air filtration...they're used in "cleanroom" manufacturing environments, and suposedly by NASA to prepare spacecraft. They were also praised by CR. I have allergies as well, but mine are fairly mild. I don't use any...

    Buy American

Air-Way, too. Tacony (Riccar & Simplicity) does final assembly here, with most components from Asian manufacturers like Daewoo.

    Hoover tempo/windtunnel

That's nothing.... GM sells the Cadillac Escalade for $20,000 more than a Chevy Tahoe, even though they're really the same truck! Shame, shame!

    Anybody looking for a Floor-A-Matic/FloorMax?

That's the "wet pickup" one which Hoover doesn't offer anymore. The remaining FloorMax model only dispenses and scrubs; it doesn't pick up. This is the better of the two, and would probably wipe the floor (ugh...) with the lightweight FloorMates they're pushing now....

    New Dysons!!

Hygenic Bin Emptying Am I the only one who finds that amusing? I've got allergies, and the only way I can "empty" a vacuum is to seal the paper bag with tape as soon as I take it out. I get other people to empty bagless machines if I have to use them <br Stunning handheld vac, though.

    Suction vs Air Flow

Pretty good article... ...I want to emphasize (and possibly clarify) what they said about nozzle size, though. Most household vacuum cleaners use a 1-1/4" diameter hose. If you can find two vacuums that have the same suction pressure at that 1-1/4" hose opening (or, just inside the hose...

info on Interstate Engineering (Compact, Revelation,Tristar)

Wartime Production Virtually every company with any sort of factory was producing something for military use during WWII. If not planes and bombs, then helmets or canteens or boot soles. I know nothing of Interstate Engineering's contribution, but here's Hoover's history page on their war...

    LUX

The one thing I can't understand is the astounding number of people who spell it "vacume." (Look at ebay.) Vac-you-um, people. Two U's, no E. Either ask a dictionary, or turn the spell checker back on. I actually have a 120v, US-assembled VAX machine from their brief foray into the US market in...

    Exclusively Eureka

Growing up, we had Hoovers at home, so Eurekas were always more interesting to me. Eureka had a great design up until the Bravos took over. They tried to match Hoover model-for-model for decades. I still think the Sanitaires are among the best choices for new carpet cleaners. I once saw the...

    Hoover PowerDrive U6311

$$$ There was a "new" one that kept popping up on ebay, never seemed to sell. Or maybe they just had a bunch of them. Or maybe they were making it up, since the only photo was from the spec sheet.
