Confirmed that Aerus still builds vacuums in Bristol Virginia

Based on what an Aerus dealer told me from his visit there the Bristol plant assembles Classic and Legacy canisters, and boxes up Guardian Platinums with the US style wands, hose, attachments and power nozzle. The G-Ps arrive in a big crate and are put into the boxes with the rest of the items...

I called Aerus today to see if it is possible to get a tour of the factory. The lady on the phone didn't think so but suggested I send an email to customer service since the employees who could make that call were off the day after Christmas. While I had her on the phone I asked "oh, you do...

Look at the image of the armature. That is a universal motor. The commutator is dirty but visible.

    Farm Voltage Premier

A commutated universal motor should run on both AC and DC, but the AC voltage ought to be greater than the DC voltage.

    1970s/80s Hitachi C-V160 Restoration & Strip down

Japan was selling bagged canister models in Japan that were never sold outside of Japan by companies like Toshiba and Mitsubish along with Hitachi, Panasonic and Sanyo. I saw this really old Sanyo canister that had a removable expander cage with a fold down handle and the bag mounted inside...

    Spur-of-the moment vacquisiton...

Wire nuts are a common feature of US made vacuums well into the 1990s, then replaced by crimp connectors that are squeezed down over the twisted wires. Every Kenmore I have through the 1990s and even some into the 2000s have them. Same with old Eurekas and Tristars.
