Do central vacuums actually deep-clean carpets as good as a portable?

What are some of you sucking up that could clog the vacuum pipes? Again, every house I've lived in has had a central vacuum and they never clogged. If the debris makes it through the power nozzle/floor brush, vacuum hose, and inlet then there just shouldn't be any reason for a properly...

Do central vacuums work well if properly installed?

I'm not sure what you're talkin about. Every house I've lived in has had a central vacuum. We never had any issues with clogs. If the inlet is installed correctly then any large object or debris shouldn't get past the connecting elbow.

Do central vacuums loose suction and airflow through the piping?

Not if the piping is installed properly. As for the hose, it depends on the type (wire-reinforced or crush-proof) and diameter. A larger diameter crush-proof hose is vastly superior to a wire-reinforced hose.

    Central vac vs Portable vac.

But who cares? If you enjoy using your Kirby, use it. I'm happy for you. Those who prefer their central vacuums should be given the same courtesy. The best vacuum is one that you will actually use. Maybe the Kirby is the best vacuum in the world. But I'd rarely ever haul the clunky thing out of...

    Central vac vs Portable vac.

People who don't like central vacuums should just come out and say so. No need to make up blatant falsehoods. Having had both Vacuflo and MD units I'd be highly suspect of anyone claiming central vacuums are poor performers. And nothing beats the convenience. Having Vrooms installed in the...

Why do bypass vacuums have such terrible deep-cleaning performance?

Like everything in life, it depends. My carpet cleaner recently restretched and made a repair to the carpet in one of the bedrooms and he remarked how clean the carpet and floor underneath were. I have a central vacuum. I have no doubt that it performs as well or better than any direct air...

Favourite Power Nozzle or brush roll?

Agreed with Lesinutah. I really like the performance of my ebk360. I've noticed a lot of people seem to think the CT14DX was really good. That's the nozzle that came with my parent's M&S Airvac system. From day one it never seemed that great to me. It just seemed to sort of float over the carpet...

    Carpet out of fashion?

Ive designed a couple of homes and prefer carpet in bedrooms, media rooms, and informal living rooms. I like porcelain tile everywhere else. I can't imagine having tile or other hard flooring in a sophisticated home theater though. Bad for acoustics. The next home I design I'll combine a home...

    Hide-A-Hose

It would seem like they could develop a version for current carrying hoses. On the hose end that connects to the piping, just use flat contacts like the type found on Electrolux/Aerus hose ends. Then have electrified contacts in the locking mechanism that secures the hose in place. Just tie it...

    Custom Central Vacuum Inlets

If I were you I think I would check eBay and local vacuum shops for old Kenmore inlets if that's the sort of inlet you want. There might be some floating around from people who have upgraded their inlets. Personally I prefer the convenience of the Supervalve/Electravalve.

    Drainvac's 2020 central vacuum series

Yes that's pretty much how the Doc-it system works. The hose is stored in a wall cavity and the same power source that provides the 120v for the power nozzle also extends and retracts the hose.

    Drainvac's 2020 central vacuum series

I’m also considering putting in the Canavac Doc-It hose management systems along with regular outlets. I think it's the only hose management system that allow you to use electric power nozzles. I have no use for battery powered or air driven nozzles. They don't swivel and I don't want to worry...

    Drainvac's 2020 central vacuum series

Bypass vs through-flow motors would make an interesting topic for Owen from Just Central Vacs to cover. I really enjoy his videos. I have a Vacuflo unit in my current house but thinking of putting an MD unit in the new house. A bagged unit would be nicer when emptying the dirt and Owen seems to...

Is there any advantage of having a 240v version over the 120v?
