    Hoover Model 51 Upgrades

Hello all! I've had this Hoover 51 I've been wanting to use, but it needed some help before I could use it productively. Figured I'd share these with anyone else who may be able to use them. - Hose adapter to use another type of hose: https://www.ebay.com/itm/166781881681 - Feet to make it more...

    Wanted: Hoover Model 51 Attachments

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone has a set of Hoover Model 51 attachments they're looking to part with? I have the vacuum, hose, and parts of the sprayer. Basically, the attachments I'm looking for are everything not crossed out in the attached picture (the only thing I crossed out is the...

Finally finished my Hoover Model 28

Thank you, everyone, and awesome machines! I like the original bag's (on both of your machines) look much better than the generic one I have, but I'm just glad I was able to find a brown one to match the color scheme. I think, overall, I still like the way the 150 feels moving across carpets...

Hoover Model 51 - AC current through metal body?

Welp, turns out I'm stupid; hopefully anyone else who runs into this problem sees this thread and comes to the same conclusion as me! Basically, that voltage reading I tested on the chassis means nothing. I've been doing a lot of reading, and the voltage is only really half of the equation, the...

Hoover Model 51 - AC current through metal body?

A megohmmeter is something I'd really like to get in the future, and would make it much easier to find the source of the problem... Fortunately, this one doesn't have a noise suppression capacitor! I will try those things out, thank you for the suggestions! I have a strange feeling that...

Hoover Model 51 - AC current through metal body?

Slight correction: When I mentioned the motor has 80v AC going through it, I meant through the frame, not what's being delivered to the brushes and then commutator. The brushes are getting 120v AC.

Hoover Model 51 - AC current through metal body?

Thank you for the reply! The cord looks original (the vacuum itself looks hardly used), so unless it was replaced with a newer Hoover cord, I'd say it's probably original. I did test the voltage with the cord plugged in (without the motor in place) and it read in at 1.3v AC, which is a normal...

Hoover Model 51 - AC current through metal body?

Today I've been working on my Hoover 51 a bit. Usually when I'm working on these vacuums, I'll check if there's a current running through the body with my multimeter. This time, this check paid off. There's 12-14 volts of AC running through the body of this vacuum, and from experience (not with...

Finally finished my Hoover Model 28

And now here are some "after" pictures! Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it came out. There are still some scratches on the hood, and some paint missing on the base, but that's to be expected after 70+ years of existence. The brush roll only had a few areas that needed rebristled, so I just...

Finally finished my Hoover Model 28

Now that I've graduated, I've had a bit more free time to tinker with things and tackle several projects I've had on hold. One of those is this Hoover 28 that I got from John Carl Auctions a while back! Here are the "before" pictures. The motor was totally seized up and didn't run, and it's...

    HOOVER MODEL 2100 SECONDARY FILTER

I guess my dyslexia is showing. That was the 2001 I just posted. HERE's what the 2100 looks like (exploded). Ref #13 (part 12512) is the filter, but I don't see any mention of a "secondary" filter...

    HOOVER MODEL 2100 SECONDARY FILTER

Not OP, but here's a hype advertisement of the cleaner. I couldn't find any pictures of it either, or really much of anything.

    1930s Apex Restoration

Another excellent restoration, as always! I have to ask, what's your process for polishing the aluminum? I see some sandpaper and Mother's Mag & Aluminum in this picture, and want to invest in some supplies to get my machines looking like new!

Who else bought auctions from the Atomic Warehouse in Harrisburg?

Unfortunately, I did not get a hose that goes with those attachments. It also looks like the set may be missing an attachment or two. If you'd like, I'd be happy to ship them to you. If not, what model vacuum cleaner do they go to? (so I know how to advertise them properly)

Who else bought auctions from the Atomic Warehouse in Harrisburg?

I also was thinking the exact same thing, and it's one reason why I was hesitant to trust the seller, since it was obvious that they aren't very experienced with vacuums. But, regardless, I still got stuff and am happy with all my purchases. But, like you, I also got some extra stuff I didn't...
