Who was Lawrence Electric ???

Just saw this wand on ebay. Seller says it fits a Lawrence Electric vacuum and the plastic upper wand has Lawrence branding, but the parts look exactly like a traditional Electrolux electric wand. I will bet more than a high quality beer someone here knows the story.

That's the same auction I saw, and I said the same thing! The name only traces back to those extension wands, I tried looking for the rest of the vacuum but I do not think it ever existed. Maybe some commercial use outfitter that supplied heavier duty wands?

Attached is a October 4, 1994, BRISTOL VIRGINIA-TENNESSEAN news article of Electrolux's closing of its Lawrence Industries Division.

AI states that the division had opened in 1970, the same year that the new Bristol plant began operating.

Did they make all of them, or were they just a general contractor? Why were these specially branded with their logos and no other Electrolux parts were?

The old newspaper articles makes it seem like Lawrence was a wholly owned subsidiary of Electrolux.

Doing some more reading it appears Electrolux sold Lawrence Industries to a company then called U-Nova. They are now known as Novaflex Group and they make all kinds of hoses.

If you look at the Novaflex contact page you see they still operate a Novaflex Hose facility in Haw River North Carolina.
