John, that's amazing you have a vacuum that you bought as a kid with newspaper route money, and it still works today 50 years later?! WOW! Well, at least with having it serviced regularly, you can say you got your money's worth out of that Hoover LOL.

What's sad about today's world is, a kid that bought a new vacuum wouldn't have his new cleaner last nearly as long. Oh well, not much we can do about it.

At jewlelcor, that day, the t e was the powder blue convertible, snap bag, etc. That's the one I went there to buy. But, when I saw the last. Floor model 1076, ( very old stock), the choice was clear. I did get the blue one, eventually. Pics of that, if you'd care to see it, too.

please post the pictures of the blue u4021 i still have them here on my digital camera when you brought it up for what you would call a playdate it was such an honor to have it here back in 2011 .....i wish i knew how to upload the photos from my old 2007 camera

I was unaware that (presumably) the later 1076s were equipped with full hoods.

John, how about a Ceylon Yellow group photo sometime? I think there was a Constellation and a Floor-A-Matic with a headlight; and possibly a Dial-A-Matic and Quik-Broom.

paul that was the u4007 that replaced the 1076 the u4007 had a production of 1973 to 1975 when it was replaced with the hoover high performance series u4063 also in gold tone from 1975 to 1977 but then trimmed in oyster white with the 4.7 /6.0 amp motor for more power as 1970's rugs when from shag to denser plush piles if you go to you tube you can find the u4059 sister to the u4063 in a tv ad launching the new hoover high performance line up from 1975
