Hi. I just bought an Electrolux 2100, Model C141A, that came with just the vacuum. According to the chart listed by Paul (thank you!!!) in 2014, it was made in 1996-97. I think metal wands were still being used then, but am not sure. I think the thin non-electric plastic wands came out in the 2000s. Can anyone tell me for sure? Thank you.

Michael, I think it was much earlier than that. I am going to guess that by 1994-1995, when the Renaissance came out, the base model Ambassador and 2100 would have got plastic non-electric wands for the floor brush. So it's likely your 2100 would have came with the plastic wands, not the metal ones.

Thank You

Hi Kirbylux77. Thank you for your reply. Wasn't there a period where no wands were included and you were expected to use the power nozzle wand for the floor brush? Skimming ebay (where you can find photos of vacuums sometimes with attachments, but can't guarantee they're the ones that came with the machine) it seems to me that a lot from the late 80s and into the 90s expected you to disconnect the power nozzle to use the floor brush. I'm thinking that the non-electric plastic wands may have started then. I have a Diplomat from 89-91 and it has metal wands, but my Advantage Series tank from 1993 doesn't. You had to use the power nozzle wands. I had an Ambassador III from 1999-02 and it had the plastic wands, so my 2100 (C141A - a late one from 1996-97) could easily have had plastic wands. Thank you for your help trying to figure this out.

"--no wands--"

There seems to have been a brief time during the Super J years that the 2 aluminum wands were considered optional.I think that after that all Elux had either metal or plastic wands for the floor brush. These were also great for high ceilings with cobwebs when added to the Power Nozzle wands.(In the late 50s/early 60s the crevice tool was optional.)

The Canadian machines (which the original 2100 was - 1985-87) never had a second set of wands. When they remade the 2100 in the late 90s as a special sale machine they came with plastic wands for the floor brush if memory serves.

I scored a free Ambassador III a few years ago. It came with the electric wands and power nozzle, but no non-electric wands.
I bought a pair of used aluminum wands for it, even though I'm sure it would have originally had plastic.
So, while it's not "correct", I went that route because of the experience my mom had with one of her first Electroluxes. I don't remember the model, but it had the plastic wands. And this may have been in the 1980s. She found that they had a tendency to separate while she was using them. Either from each other, or from the floor tool. I don't recall.
But, I've had no problems with the aluminum wands. It just depends on how period correct you want it to be!

Hey Mike, You're welcome for the list. The years may not all be entirely accurate, but I did my best to match periods and styles. In the case of the C141A, the production span may have actually been in the early 2000s instead. The C141F 2100 Aerus branded cleaner succeeded the C141A. Other model C141s had different model names such as Lux 5000, Lux 2000, and Lux 5500. These may have been the QVC or other retail models.

John Anderson, a long-time Electrolux salesman, posted the 2100 (C141A?) spec sheet below, copyrighted in 2000, on another thread some years ago. It appears that the power nozzle wand was also used for above the floor cleaning tools as no other wands are mentioned.

From what I can tell, the plastic wands were used with the new lexan cleaners from 1985 to circa 2000; except for the mid-level Epic 6000SR/6500SR/Lux 7000/Legacy models. After that, the wands may have been an option on the low-level and retail models. Then steel wands were reintroduced as standard on the low level trims in 2004 when the Aerus branding debuted.

The electric wands were introduced with the Renaissance C104A in 1994 and have been used with the top line models ever since.
