Windsor Versamatic 14"

Hi all,,this is my first posting I hope you can help.
In the basement of the building that we live at, there is this older used Windsor vac' , been here for years belonging to no one in-particular. I took possession of it ,,the motor works although the brush will not spin. It is very filthy and Im in the process of refurbishing it. I see now that i will need a manual and advice from this site. Overall it does seem to be in solid shape,,just needs cleaning up and restoration. I am not able to get the bottom cover off to access the spinning brush..ive removed obvious screws,,what am i missing?? thanks!!

Checking mine..

did you remove the little metal door at the end of the brush roll? I took mine apart a couple of years ago & do recall the final attachment point being somewhat difficult. Worth it as mine was chock full o' crap in the brush roll motor area. Remove the wheels, the carpet height dial etc. & it should be fairly clear.
Also, you do realize the whole brush roll/ brush roll motor assembly easily detach from the upper vacuum body (& vacuum motor)?

Strickly' I did remove that little metal door. Actually when i was turning the phillips screw holding it in place, the head snapped off.(no prob, will replace it later) I have not removed the wheels as yet. Would that be part of the problem i have in opening the unit? I learning about this particular vacuum as I go. Thanks my friend.

Im currently restoring this Versamatic. The motor works GREAT,, the roller brush is jammed and there is all kinds of sediment and filth , minor pieces to replace and repair too - much to do..let me know what you think

Wow, very dirty vac you've got there! Good luck with the restore. It'll look great when it's cleaned up.

I have one of those. Very solid machine! Quiet, too.

Great machines

The Versamatics (and their Sebo counterparts) are wonderful machines. One small thing to keep in mind is that the hose needs to be VERY firmly in place at the bottom to engage the microswitch that turns on the brush motor.

I do have a lot of work yet to do before i can reassemble this one.
@Great machines' The roller cant be spun by hand as it is now. There is so much crud on the moving parts. I even had to drill out 2 of the main screws holding down the top end to the bottom. fun fun fun

you will more than likely need a new brush bar, I have that version in blue too but under the original sebo name. Funny thing is its a pity I live so far away, I have loads of those brush bars, belts and pulley's here. We were wondering what to do with all of them
