Why are vacuum cleaner collectors so untrustworthy?????????

After a posting on Facebook I contacted a South African Vacuum cleaner Collector from Kempton Park, whom was down sizing his collection. He whatsappéd the pictures of the machines to me that was availible.

I specifically indicated to him which Vacuum cleaners I am definitely interested in and will purchase from him.

This was Saturday afternoon. He replied on me asking when will suite him best for collection ect. He replied Sunday morning before 9 o clock. Being Sunday and as A Christian I could not endouvour in doing business on a Sunday.

This morning I received a message that Gareth Sheen, had selected the ones he wanted, despite the ones I selected first, Gareth selected them and I had no say.

The whatsapp message read as follow: Morning. As you know im down scaling my collection of vacuums. I have priced each item individually and priced it for you guys the collectors. GARETH selected the ones he wants. If you are interested in receiving photos of what is left let me know. If you take the lot we can discuss a better price.

Having a history with Gareth and giving him and even couriering many vintage vacuums very rare in collections to him, he still has no respect or loyaalty towards other collectors, and nor does the seller. Gareth was to give me a single vacuum cleaner Columbus Sylvia" the equivalent of the small upright Fakir, Regina Beat n sweep, in return for a Kirby 508 with accessories, pink Hoover 652 Grey Hoover 652, Hoover U4016 in a distinct green with yellow and white bag and accessories-all in 100% original and working condition , Moulinex with all accessories, to name a few. (ALL FREE OF CHARGE) He gave the Columbus that was promised to me to another collector.

The machines I selected before he was even in the picture was afterwards reserved to him. Why are collectors so disloyal. Gareth is based 1800 km from us where I am a mere 15 km from the seller??????

You can never, BUT NEVER trust the South African Vacuum cleaner Collector.

I am livid, and tired of being treated like this by a bunch of people whom do not honour their word.

Are there any other collectors that has experienced the same disguising Behaviour? Am I entitled to feel the way I do?

Seing you chose to drag my name into your little tale above I thought I would set the record straight

Gerhard contacted me as he is my friend and said he needed to down scale his collection. Knowing I liked a few and that he also beat me to a few purchases he said I could let him know which ones I wanted. As I am away in the northern cape I had let him know which ones I had wanted about a week ago. And confirmed a price and made a deal.
I am sorry that you feel I stole them from you but by the time you were even messaged the deal was done.

What was not acceptable was your scathing message because you didn't get what you wanted. Dirkie was shocked by your message you sent him because he dared to sell machines to me.

Below is the actual message about me having first choice. Again two friends who did a vacuum deal between each other and you taking exception to it

As for the Sylvia
Let's see the actual story

You bought a concept one here in Cape Town, I restored it at no cost to you, when it came time for it to be collected your parents were visiting about 100 km from Cape Town and I you wanted them to fetch on a Friday. Despite me saying that I wouldn't have tbe time to meet them and that I would drive to them on the Saturday you insisted they come through. You have always had a issue understanding that people have lives outside of vacuum collecting. I own a business and have a family and was very busy that day driving around to customers as I am every Friday. You threw a fit when I said it wasn't going to happen, again using bad language and insulting me. The next day Saturday I did drive through and meet your parents and give them the machine. Unfortunately the instruction booklet stayed in my truck( I still have it despite you telling me to F off and burn it when I offered to courier it to you) from that time onwards you sent me a few filthy messages about how I am scum and despicable, you also told me you no longer want anything from me and to burn the Sylvia. and then refused to speak to me and blocked me
A year went buy, a few other collectors and I discovered how you played us against each other and we all became friends. I still had the sylvia you didn't want and Gave it to another collector.

As for all the machines you gave me, yes you did, you told me as you have told other collectors over the years that you didn't have long left to live and were in poor health and needed to get rid of the machines. They are awesome and a reminder of a time when I you and I were friends.
Your a wealth of knowledge Adrian, but your lack of understanding that some of us have lives outside of vacuum collecting and the way you treat people when you can't get exactly what you want is appalling
