Why Did They Have To Make Them So CHEAP!

So I recently just got a Turbomaster Total System. I was very pleased with it when I unpacked it from the bin bag it was sent in!! I had a good look around it and was so pleased ot arrived completely unscathed. Then on further inspection, I noticed the wheels had broken! There were chunks missing on both! Why did they have to make the Turbopower 1 and Turbomaster cleaners so cheap?! I am sure Hoover didn't think thay there would be peope collecting these things in 30 years time, but still!

Luckily I have a spare set of wheels in grey. Not the same colour as the machine, but nevermind, I will never find them in the original colour as this is an Electricy Bord model. The colour has ever so slightly darkened, due to sundamage or teperature change over the years, it is quite suttle and I actually prefer the colour it is now, lol.

Love the look of those, reminds me of the Elite/ legacy machines.Good performers

Indeed, although, it cleans better and has stronger hose suction than an Elite, it has a similar sound though.

suppose, the Elite looks like the Turbomaster as they came out in 1987, where as the Elites came out in 1988, Hoover US and Hoover UK were the same company back then, so they probably shared ideas.

It's all a conspiracy...

They do it for several reasons that have nothing to do with customer satisfaction:

1. To ensure future profits by basically designing current products to self-destruct in a relatively short period of time.

2. To give us the illusion that our money isn't quite as worthless as it actually is.

In addition, they systematically discontinue parts for otherwise far superior legacy products in order to retroactively make them un-repairable and thus force consumers to buy their latest worthless plastic crap.

It may be plastic, but it is certainly not Crap! it was one of Hoover's best.

The later clean air Turbopower 2 was built like a tank, very robust, yet plastic.

Alex, and now they do not make them at all. Not a one. Not even in Canton Ohio.
At least the Hoover plant in England is a nice art deco Tesco store now.
Hoover is owned by TTI floor care. So is Dirt Devil, and Oreck. The sales person at an Oreck shop will tell you they are made outside of Cleveland, but in fact that is only the TTI distribution center. All of their products are imported from China, and share parts and shells in common also with Fuller Brush brand machines.
Even Costco wharehouse club stores have one branded for them.

Um, the current Hoover products sold in Europe and UK are mostly made in China too.

Vacreator: The Hoover Brand in the UK is owned by Candy now, they also make all their cleaners in China.

Numatic are the only manufacturer to still produce vacuum cleaners in the UK, unfortunately, Hoover and Electrolux production here has long gone :/

Congratulations Alex ! It looks beautiful.

I know how disappointing it is to buy something antique, like this, and have it damaged during shipping. A recent vacuum purchase was terribly packaged and I ended up making a claim (which took a month to pay out), but I'm still left with a 40 year old vac. that's damaged.

Consider yourself fortunate to have the parts and they're easy to change. My item, the body of the machine is damaged.
