The Kirby g4 has been around for a while and recently stopped working.

A fumble with the power switch shows corroded main contacts that could have easily been repaired if the switch had not flung parts out everywhere when taken apart!

I have been feverishly looking around for a switch and the prominent price is about 30 bucks :O

Wayyy too steep for me Brother.

To cut to the quick, where the heck can I find a switch for a next to nothing price?

Like MAYBE 6 dollars. Because IMHO that is all they are really worth.

Thanks a bunch.

(1) Be patient, looking for anything feverishly often prolongs the search.

(2) Six dollars will likely pay for shipping and that's all if you buy one online.

(3) Check with a local vacuum shop, an independent that's been in biz for a while. They may have used parts they will sell for less than a new part. If you act nice and don't try to hustle or chisel them right off the bat. Or:

(4) Wait for a junker machine to show up at one of your local thrift shops. Sometimes you can get these inexpensively. Such a machine might have something else wrong with it other than the power switch.

Call Bill Edstrom at 608.373.7700.  He lives in Janesville, Wisconsin and has a Kirby Service Center.  He will sell you one and he ships fast.  He also charges ONLY what it costs to ship.  The good news is that Kirby parts are relatively cheap.
