Where do the attachments go??

Random thought. As i was looking at my kirbys a thought came to me. What happened to all the attachments? Like when I visit someone's house they orignaly bought a 70s 80s kirby but thats all there is just the vacuum no hose no tools other attachments like shampoo guns zip brushes. Even the used vacuums I've bought only one kirby came with the original tool box. So what did they do with them lose them ? Didint buy them ?

Where have all the attachments gone--

They are in my old store that must be cleaned out.HaHa.
The Kirbys came with hose and standard atts at most times.Some were optional.The typical customer can barely vacuum carpet properly much less use the hose.And they never read the directions.Then after they throw out or trade the vac as being to heavy they find the never used atts in closet and want me to buy them saying how valuble they are since they are new.And I say if they are valuable why didn't you do many cleaning jobs with them.
But I do have tons of accessories 50s,60,& beyond.They will GO this year.Who wants what?!?

I think they go to the same place that the missing sock in the dryer goes to.

I took the inner tub out of a TL once and there between the two tubs were kids socks that had vanished over the yrs. That can't happen in a FL, but I still have my 3yr old's socks missing......mostly I find them stuck somewhere. Once I found a pair in the trash. I thnk he thought the trash was the same as the dirty clothes basket. We're doing better now though.....lol!


 


But I hear ya....it's like all the OM's can't be on eBay. I suspect people like my dad just pitch them, especially if they find them later on. First thing my dad would do is throw away the instructions. Then if he couldn't figure the gizmo out, he hand it to me for interpretation....a kid no less.

Since the attachments come in a big box, it's mostly moved to the garage or basement where they sit, unused, for decades.

I would agree with that....most people didn't get out a big box of attachments and move it around with the vacuum......they were put away somewhere else.


 


You would always see pics/drawings of a woman vacuuming with the box of attachments nearby.....in real life, that just wasn't the case for most.

A few months after I found my first Gsix next to a dumpster in the apartment complex where I lived at the time, I happened upon a complete Gsix tool kit at a thrift shop a couple of miles away for less than $5. Of course there's no way to know for sure, but it pleases me to think I reunited them.

I bought a french fry maker once at a garage sale and it was unused. Been a gift to the lady apparently. But I had no deep fryer. I see them at garage sales and they are always small and yucky. A few sales later I happened on a clean, quasi-commercial fryer. I bought it cheap without a cord. They said I could get the cord for $5.


 


No.......it was $18!

My Kirby attachments are used daily in cleaning homes here in Wilmington! They reside in a blue Tradition "briefcase" and I love it! Since I'm over 60 and have used Kirby's all my life, I know from the old manuals and use all the combinations I can make! But yes, I've found many attachment set molding away in basements and garages!
