No, not for making masks, I want to use it to make motor pre filters for vacuums. I've made exhaust filters from the cut to fit packs of electrostatic filters you can buy for the floor HVAC vents. But it's too small for some uses.

I've looked online but I cannot find any sheets of cut to fit HEPA material.

You'd think they'd sell sheets of it somewhere.
I guess I could get some HEPA bags for some of my vacuums, fill them up, then cut them up and wash to make filters out of.

I'm sure you could buy a HEPA furnace air filter from the hardware store. Not sure about cost effectiveness compared to cutting up a vacuum bag, though.

This kind of stuff? I am not sure what MERV rating a vacuum premotor filter would closely match, but you do not want to suffocate the motor.

If you mean that black spongey pad kind of filter, that is mainly used in aqauarium filters so that is a more common search term. You want to make sure you get the most coarse type so you don't kill the airflow to the motor.

The 25ppi one in the above link I think is closest to what vacuum cleaner companies use.

Yeah furnace filter might work.

That first link looks like what I'm probably looking for. 0.3 microns should be more than enough filtration without overworking the motor. For $20 it should yield quite a bit of material for several vacuum filters and possible replacements over time.

Just a replacement round Constellation filter runs about $14 I think so $20 to make multiple filters for many different brand of machines is not bad at all.

I've seen people on here cutting up bags to make pre-filters and they say they work pretty well.
