When did Vax start ripping off Miele?

No, it's not a Miele, but very similar appearance wise.

TTI is the company who owns Royal/Dirt Devil, Hoover and Vax. There's never been a more obvious copy of a Miele than this machine. I first saw it branded as a Royal at the VDTA trade show. It was so weird to see a Hoover Windtunnel powernozzle with the word "Royal" on it.

If you get a chance to play with one, you'll find the looks are about the only thing this has in common with a Miele.

Well, that's good to know... this post was scary! That looks a lot like the new Mieles... wonder what the power nozzle and hand grip look like. My Miele Plus was made in China, but I still love it and it feels and behaves like a Miele. TTI is too big anyway....

I saw one of these in Currys just the other day - our version doesn't even benefit from the Windtunnel powernozzle! :(

Vax has recently been rebranding various US Hoover models for the UK market: the Hoover Whisper was the Vax Turboforce Zero, and the Hoover Windtunnel +Cylonic is the Vax Mach 7.
