What's what in Aerus/Lux uprights....or ProTeam??

Two down and one to go with the floorcare appliance update project.....got the Lux canister and shampooer without too much effort, thanks to this resource and some luck searching.....but I am a bit confused about what upright I should be searching for amongst the used/late model Aerus/Lux offerings.

From what I have been able to find out here, it seems that some of the more recent Lux uprights have more motor/airflow than the earlier offerings. Apparently the Lux 3000, Classic, and Legacy uprights have more suction - the ones with the front protruding filter mount - as well as the Guardian upright. Any more detailed info on this? Are there any other Lux uprights not mentioned that I should consider?

And what about the ProTeam uprights? I've read everything from the idea that they are a chinese knockoff to others who say they are built in the same factory as Aerus/Lux...and am curious how they compare to the stronger Aerus/Lux uprights. Looking at them has me inclined to believe that they are basically rebadged Aerus, but that's just a visual guess.

Main criteria is floor suction - attachment use will be rare. I like the convenience of the Lux upright operationally - I have an old one that has been through the wars and needs replacing.

If I could find a used Guardian upright I think my problem would be solved - but not many of those are circulating and I can't fork over 1K to a distant Aerus dealer to make it happen. So I'm looking for a late model used alternative - or maybe a ProTeam.

I'd look into the ProTeam

I'd look into a ProTeam. They are well built, have an onboard hose. They are a great machine and have great suction. They use the same bags as the Lux/Aerus machines yet cost a lot less. I think you can probably get one for less than $500.00. Check out WWW.hescoinc.com as well as other websites.

I have been investigating the ProTeam to the extent I am able. If it is similar in durability and performance to the Luxes I am definitely interested.....especially since I can get them new at attractive prices.

I am trying to figure out if there are any differences in what is "under the hood" motorwise. There is the 15, 15XP, 1500, and 1500XP. The XPs have the on board attachments and hose rig. The 15 and 1500 do not.....which if they have the same motors might be just fine. I'm thinking that since I have a canister for the above floor cleaning that the simplicity of the 15 or 1500 - without the on board hose rig - might be the simplest and best. If they are the same motor there has to be some "loss" through that added hose loop, all else being the same.

I am also attempting to discern how the ProTeams compare in floor suction vs late model Aerus/Lux. I have an educated hunch that the Guardian upright would lead the pack (it was mentioned here that they do 405 air watts - pretty impressive) but again not common in the used market.

The ProTeams seem a good deal but I figured it best to ask the experts to see if I'm missing anything....

Proteam /Aerus Electrolux

There was a a short period when Aerus/Electrolux made the Proteam uprights. They are now knockoffs. Aerus does not provide any parts for them. The motors are even different. Perfect is making a copy of the 4000/6000 with on board attachments. Still not the same people expect from Aerus/Electrolux equipment.
I agree the Guardian upright is a very unusual find on used cleaner market right now.They are out there but extremely hard to find. I have customers I sell new ones to that will not sell or trade their old uprights in.

Tig21er, since you seem to have Aerus knowledge......(or anyone else) -

I guess ultimately the question is whether or not being a "knockoff" is a bad thing. So much of a product's function is in the design, which ProTeam apparently has a legal right to use. I've gotta say that even if the Proteam isn't made with the exact same motors, given the nature of the way things are made - motors selected from a limited pool of larger manufacturers - that if there is a base level of performance and reliability from those motors that they would have pretty good performance.

With regard to the Aerus uprights, I am trying to place a timeline/order of the more recent models and what is "under the hood" on those. For example, the "Lux Classic", "Lux Legacy" and the "Lux 3000" seem to be machines built in the last 8-10 years, but I am having difficulty figuring out what order they were produced and just what is in them. I have read that the Aerus uprights with that front bulging filter compartment had bigger motors? One thing I am finding out about high end vacs is that there are models circulating that saw very little use (although admittedly less frequent on uprights). So if a Guardian upright isn't in the cards I'm looking for the next best alternative, and some added info on the other late model Lux uprights would be a great help.

I prefer an Aerus upright, but can't do a 1Kish deal on a new Guardian, so I'm trying to find the next best alternative. I would also add that I am willing to take time and seek one out.....it's not a "buy" I have to do in the immediate. Given ebay and the online world just about anything is "findable" if one looks long enough. It's more an issue of finding out details about the machines so I know more about what I am actually looking for.

Lux 3000

The Lux 3000 with the slant nose in front does indeed have a bigger motor. It was the same motor that was in the Guardian Canister. All the canisters had that motor . It was the features of the cleaners that varied. Saw some on Ebay. I have one and love it.

Lux Legacy

I went to see what was on Ebay and saw 2 Legacys. One had all attachments which were deluxe and on without.The Legacy was out from 2004-2005. Classic was the cleaner with standard attachments and said Classic.Best buy is with deluxe attachments. 3000 was 2001-2004. As I gather my thoughts and info I will add it.

Do you know when the Guardian upright came out.....and what machine existed in it's place just before the Guardian?

What are new Guardian uprights supposed to sell for through dealers, and what could they actually be purchased for (IOW, are Aerus dealers negotiable)?

Guardian Upright

The current Guardian upright has been out since 2009. I have been selling the current unit for $1500 and that is firm . I sell to all customers the same price and includes the deluxe attachment set. As a salesman I am set to what I sell them for.My customers don't have a problem with price due to service after the sale and quality of the product.
Current Proteam does have a couple of issues in the ones I have worked on. They are
sold online but getting service after the sale is what is costly. A private message from you is where I can give you more info.

My experience with ProTeam

I was able to obtain a ProTeam 1500XP for our church through our local vacuum cleaner dealer. He ordered it for us, and it shipped to us fast. The price was $350.00, regular price was $500. I have received nothing but positive feedback on the vacuum, I.e This is the best vacuum cleaner we've ever had, it really makes the carpet stand up nice. It has great suction. I would have no problem buying a ProTeam. So far it has held up well for us. We are very happy with it. It has the onboard hose on it.

Well, I solved the problem.  After talking with the nearest Aerus dealer about shampoo for my Floor Pro (who makes weekly rounds to this area), he delivered the shampoo and had a Guardian upright still in wrapper in his ride. He made a very nice trade in offer toward my old Ultralux 160 to get me into a new machine - so the Guardian upright is in house. It's a very nice machine!
