This vacuum went unsold on Goodwill.com and it's been relisted and the price has shot up dramatically Is this a rare vacuum or is there something I am missing? I just figured it was a cheaper Eureka stick-vac clone made by Montgomery Ward and I was gonna bid on it before for the $4.99 price tag but I passed on it.

It’s the famous Hoover Handivac….rebranded for Montgomery Wards. I think almost every broom closet in suburbia had one of those when I was growing up. I think you could hang it up in the closet as well.

Hoover brooms

They were much better than Regina.Eureka had a separate handheld but their broom did not have removable handle. Some Hoovers with this body shell were hand vac only.
I should still have E,F & G bags for Hoover.Hoover brooms that I have upstairs are going out this week.If any need 1 for parts or restore for much, much less than $66.Will post pics later on my clean out thread.

yes, anything made by hoover badged for wards in the late 70's was very rare actually. more rare than penncrest. someone must really want it. normally 70s badged wards vacs (eureka or hoover) have little to no demand. its not penneys and isnt as desirable.

Well, happy to say I finally put a stop to this nonsense!

Goodwill cancelled out the other bidders that tried to outbid me again while the auction as still live, and whoever was bidding ran out of accounts to get banned, so I ended up winning the vacuum! It has been paid for and will have a happy home soon :)

well i only placed a bid the first time, and this last time. i never bid on it any other time because i don't like wasting time with bots or scammers. who knows who was bidding these last several months and for what purpose. no idea why they were bidding just for fun anyway, they obviously were breaking the rules since goodwill kept cancelling bids automatically.

i've seen it happen with lots of stuff going for insane amounts of money and then it shows up again a week later and i see it again i'm like "wait didn't i just see this last time?" its because i did see it last time. lol

im shocked how it took this long for them to run out of accounts and how in the world they did that for such a long time. goodwill must have more lax security than ebay. just goes to show that persistence (and luck) pays off tho! im sure goodwill will be relieved this is over. lol i'd hate to have had it end up in the trash compactor or landfill
