VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Found the ebay listing. It's not clear here, but on ebay, I can make out the model plate saying 'The National Super Service Co.' The top of the label is almost completely corroded, but it looks like the second word says 'Chicago.'

I'm assuming the Kirby bag was just a replacement. Also, I almost want to say this is one of those vacs that would be used in a hotel, restaurant, or some other such commercial enterprise.

That is an early NSS M vacuum that came before the M1-the later model of this commercial canister vacuum. These aren't like usual canister vacuums-they have a direct air fan behind the "snout" part in the front. The snout catches large, heavy items like screws, bolts, pebbles, nails so they can't break the fan.Love how someone "adapted" a Kirby Classic bag to fit.You can get replacement bag assemblies from NSS-they would fit this vacuum just fine.Have sevral of these machines-my favorite canister vacuum! The NSS PIG!

I have

A newer one, Nothing like it on earth, the most indestructible vacuum ever built and the best commercial, not a lot of sealed suction but TONS of airflow!

The seller doesn't know what it is, and that is a great price for a rare vacuum if you're willing to drive down and get it. NSS Pig vac's sell for about 5 times that price even in rough shape.

Actually-Pigs are not that "rare"they are just VERY durable so they would still be around after other vacuums have come and gone.20 bucks would be a good price for this one-corroded and doesn't have the original bag.You don't know what this has gone thru.

At one time NSS Pigs were advertised to movie theaters-that's was where the oldest surviving one was found. Now at the NSS headquarters behind glass-they can bring it out and show that the Pig still works after all of its life eating spilled popcorn and discarded candy wrappers! On the Film Tech forum site they show the ads for NSS vacuums in the cinema trade magazines along with ads for projectors, amps, speakers, carbons, screens, etc.

There are MANY NSS dealers so Pigs are easy to find-and they show up on EBay in bunches-probably surplus ones from gov't agencies-the Pig is available thru GSA-Gov't Supply Agency.gov't agencies order items from them.

In Elizabethton,TN--

--but not mine.(Mine is still in the back room with many other interesting commercial vacs!)
You will note 100% feedback as I would expect from knowing the seller. His'other items'are more typical of his type of collectibles.
If anyone does drive down for this you might end up with his and mine and a whole lot more!!

Hey

They have a pig on classifieds for $225. It is the only one I've seen in 2 years. I know $700-$1000 is what they run new.
Government auctions sound interesting how would one find more on them.
