Well...I cooked my first meal in the new kitchen..

We have been so busy moving, we have been eating out for the last couple of months, finally we have gotten the house halfway straightened out, so I cooked Monday, meatloaf, mashed potatoes,green beans,apples,and of course biscuits, and a rhubarb crumb crust pie.

For those of you...

Who have never seen my old stove, its a 55 Norge, two ovens, griddle and deep well. I think she looks pretty good in her new home.

That's one great Kitchen! There's nothing like cooking the first meal in a new house.

Maybe you can help me recall a great idea in built-in ovens. A former partner who lived in Lombard, Illinois, and had an oven with doors that lifted up. It also had the cooktop drawer that slid out for use. It was introduced in the 1960's. I think it was called the 'Flair Range' and might have meen made by G.E. Any ideas?

Here's my cat Caligula and I on our first Christmas Eve together. This was back in Naperville, Illinois in 1986.

Home for Dinner

It's feels good to be invited "in" for dinner. The world seems right when you're in the kitchen. I'm anxious to see more pictures and to see how you and Donald trick out the shop with your combined collections.

And, I found this one on a real estate listing photo, it is or was a block away from me. I never could get in to see if it was still in the house after it sold. It is a tiny house and I guess the range is a 30" model.

The 'Flair' range.

It was only a few months before John Lucia and I started the V.C.C.C. that I met a guy named Doug, and a friendship grew into my first of two long term relationships. Doug lived in Lombard Illinois and it was through him that I became assistant trainer for the Lombard Kirby office.

Doug had a wonderful split-level house with a great kitchen. He also had a Flair, range, and it was on this that I learned to cook. Aside from having erything eye level, it was a breeze to keep clean, the burners popped out, and as the cooktop was a drawer, it could be slid out of the way when not in use, making the kitchen look even better.

Hi Alex:
Our mutual friend Clay Floyd has a Flair range in his home. Donald and Hans installed it for him. I've made a number of GREAT meals on it for the group. Hans has made some awesome pies and of course, his unmatched buttermilk Biscuits (the secret's in the flour you use) in it as well. Great memories of that range. Need to call Clay and arrange a visit again soon. Maybe I can persuade Hans and Donald to visit at the same time.
