Anyone ever seen one of these beasts? Obviously some sort of commercial machine. And only 1hp motor?! With a nozzle that large and open, how could that possibly be enough power?!

I think that it is a yard vac. I have seen newer ones at Lowe's, but nothing that old. (if that is what it is)

Don't think it's any type of yardvac since it has that warning on the bottom plate about not getting wet etc. Plus those tiny rear wheels would be catching in every crack or crevice out there. I'd say it's more of a commercial vac for offices or medium sized meeting rooms etc. Note someone wrote in to tell them it's not from the 40's more like the 80's 90's..which makes more sense.

Looks like it's meant mainly for industrial apps. I'm guessing it would be too powerful and too loud in an office/commercial or home setting <br
And that price ($1,045 for the new one) would buy quite a few Sanitaires or Guardsmen ... <br

Its not really all that powerful

We have one we use here in the laundry.. Its good for picking up large amounts of lint strings smaller amounts of paper ect.. all on bare surface will not handle carpet..

Lawn vac?

At first glance it looks like one of the lawn vacs that were better used for sweeping driveways and sidewalks. On closer look it could be a very early version of a hotel/hospital vacuum used for lobbies and hallways. My guess anyway <br

I have a Sept 1980 issue of "Bobbin" magazine-a magazine made for the sewed goods trade-they have an ad for this machine-"Ideal for fabric cutting areas,woodshops and theater lobbies"The machine was touted that it could eat up fabric scraps sawdust,leaves and such.Early models had a cast metal fan.Later ones had a composite plastic fan.I have a "hip" model that has the large bag and a hose-has the composite fan.they worn on the fan housing not to use the machine for picking up glass,pebbles and nuts and bolts.They are still around--new "upkeeper" uprights go for about $1500,and the "backpack" ones go for the same price.they also make a gas motored backpack unit"Ideal for picking up dog Poop" the ad says.I found my machine at a pawn shop here in town.They have a website.It is now based in Charlette,NC.Used to be in California.Would like to have an older one.All metal and less plastic.
