Wanted- a royal

I am looking to buy a royal vacuum. Not the plastic ones, but the kirby style ones. Im really not looking to spend a lot of money. In fact, I really dont have a lot.

Maybe I could trade one of my vacs.

I would prefer it to be local or at least drivable distance. But if I just pay for it, and no trades, I would do shipping.

Im in nebraska.

Hey Brandon,

You might want to check with Kyle Kritchbaum. He had a nice Royal model 801 for sale not long ago, don't know whether he sold it yet or not. I believe it was only $10.00 plus shipping. Would have bought it myself but I already have a model 801.

I have made arrangements with Kyle to purchase his Royal 801.I have made good freinds with the vacuum places near me.I have bought many Royals this way.Is there a person that buys up trade in vacuums from the DTD folks in your area-and you may want to make freinds with the DTD folks-another good local source for vacuums.A fellow named Mr. Cotton collects the trade ins from Aeros and Rainbow.bought a beautiful Royal from him last week.Mr. Cotton sells vacs from his van at flea markets.also check thrift stores or swap shops in your area.for the most part Royals are pretty nice vacuums-many folks won't part with them.the ones I have took some time to get.Mr cotton has a lot of the "Mattel" colorful plastic vacuums of many brands-not interesred in those-only want the shiny metal as in Kirbys,Royals.

DTD?

Is that door to door? If so, there are 2 or less in omaha I would think. I have never heard or seen of any. Kirby Closed here. Along with hoover. No royal stores. The oreck and a vacuum shop are closing. And thats it.


So still- does anyone have one for sale?

Brandon:Yes--DTD is for Door To Door vac sales.with the sour economy the DTD folks are drying up-sad to see it in Omaha-would have thought there would be Kirby,filter Queen,and rainbow in that area.Omaha is a fairly big town.thats sad the vacuum stores in your area are closing.Guess that leaves you with EBAY,and Craigslist-I don't like these and don't generally use them.Any thrift stores or swap shops out your way-they may be worth at look.sadly some of these have been inudated with baby clothes and toys and such.But they are worth a try-esp if you talk to the owner and operators of these places and tell them you are looking for vacuums.also want ads in the paper or want ad magazines-got a Royal that way as well.Lately I have run into a few-otherwise the Royals are as rare as hens teeth out here.there are two Royal dealers near me-one doesn't stock them bwecuase of low demand.I bought his last metal ones-commercial ones with the bright orange bags and cords.He didn't stock the household ones.The newest Royals as you may know are made in China-don't know how these will hold up.Oh yes-the Kirby and FQ dist in my area closed-bought some nice rebuilt Kirby G3,G4,and G5 from her.and many trade ins from the FQ dealer.He sent his remaining new FQ machines back to the master dist.

Well I was wrong when I said most of the stores closed. Well It was just the name brand ones.
Like the Hoover store--- Now a hoover/ kirby/ royal repair and seller (bought the stuff from the old store--- which used to be the kirby store)

The Oreck store- Thought it closed- it is moving actually

Then there is like 15 different used vac shops around!!!

YAY! We are still not lost.

But the sad thing is--- One shop thinks Kirbys from the 40s and 50s are junk and throw those out when they get them--- and all the others dont sell good ol' vacs.

Thats great-maybe theres hope.Try to make freinds with these places-esp the one that throws the older models out-he could "throw them away" to you!It does help-however to purchase a machine from him or them.Make freinds with the dealers-stop by and tell them what vacuums you are interested in-then they may save them aside for you.Its worth a shot.Trade in vacuums from these places may be a good resource.You never know-someone may trade in a shiny Royal for an Oreck!-under the saying-"that Royal is just too heavy for me now"I'll trade it in for an Oreck"Same with Kirby.Older users may do that.
