The "extended wear" position would be a setting on the brush roll that brings the bristles out further when they have some wear on them. Kirbys have this feature and Electrolux had it on the PN2. I didn't realize FQ had it also. I'll have to check into that whenever I dig that machine out of the depths of my barn where it's been buried since 2016.
