Good morning everyone, I have been spending some time out on the vacuumland.org site over the past week and wanted to take a few minutes today to share some more pictures of the various vintage small appliances, dishes and collectibles acquired over the past 30 years.

I would just like to say thank you to the creator of Vacuumland.org as this has been a really great find to know that there are so many people out there that share like or similar interests.

Enjoy

You have an excellent eye

for 'display'. You remind me of my late father...he had a perfect eye for that kind of stuff. He was blind for that later years of his life, but, he taught me wonderful things.
I especially like the Coke stuff, and the turquoise mixers.
I'd love to see how you'd arrange my stuff. I have a few pieces of memorabilia..I'll post someday.
Again, KUDOS to you...you have an excellent 'vision'.

If I may ask vacuumguy, how do you like the Samsung washer? They are top rated, and I may be in need of another new one soon. Have you had them very long?
We are a household of three. Our son is very rough on things. My old Maytag lasted us 20 years, and was still problem free when we gave it to our daughter in early 2011.
It still is.

Vacuumguy,

If you aren't already a member on the sister site automaticwasher.org you might want to consider it as it is not only about washers, but dryers, dishwashers, small appliances and everything else you can think of :-)

Good morning John, Mike, and Gary, thanks for taking the time to review my post and sharing your positive comments.

John, I can’t take all the credit on display and placement as my partner has been a big influence on that front. We work well together and that really helps to pull things together. He also collects music boxes, Coca Cola memorabilia, car models, and has most of his childhood toys as well as a functioning drag strip and oval race track.

Mike, as for the Samsung Washer and Steam Dryer, we have had them for about 8 years and we wash every day. Really like them a lot these replaced our Sears He3 model. Within the past 8 years we have had the dryer serviced twice once for a new element to heat it and the second was to replace a few rollers that support the drum, other than that no concerns. As for Maytag, my Mom purchased her first automatic washer in 1968 and to the best of my knowledge it is still running and in the house it had been originally installed in.

Gary, thanks for the welcome and I will look at joining the sister site Automatic Washer.org

In closing a couple of observations I see a lot of us are musical, our Heintzman ebony baby grand piano turned 100 years old this year which had been professionally restored with nickel plated tuning pegs and Steinway strings and is a real treat to have. The connections and conversations we have during the process of collecting sourcing and fixing add to the overall experience.

Thanks again everyone for visiting the post and sharing. Have a wonderful day and continue to enjoy your treasures.

Steve,

Thank you for the information.
Drum rollers wear on Any brand of dryer.
I was more concerned with the washing machine drum bearings. The ones on my h.e. top loader were replaced last year and are loud again.
I always thought front loaders were harder on bearings. On Whirlpool/Kenmore models they fail regularly.

Sorry couldn't edit my previous answer above

Finally someone shows up in London. I'm in Sarnia and another avid collector wee Davy is in Stratford. I've somewhat stopped collecting, got way too much stuff now but if you're looking for something in particular speak up.. I may have it or an extra.

Thank's Pete,

I'm about an hour from Sarnia. I do not have an enhanced license currently to cross the border though.
If you by chance have an old Eureka ivory color straight suction rug nozzle, the type that connects to the older style chromed third elbow wand?
I don't need, but it would make my 1980 model 1290 brandywine power team show room correct. I have the original floor brush, and dusting brush, crevice tool, but that has duct tape on it's cracked neck as well.
I also acquired it with out a power nozzle. I have the one from my moms model 1279, an exact match. So can also use another, if I ever decide to sell them separately. As long as it is burgundy red, even without a headlight.
I could get an enhanced license, or meet in Port Huron, and reimburse you for bridge toll, and fuel, or buy lunch.
If you have or ever come across those of course. In nicer weather, on a slow non zero hour bridge day as well.

John,

Same here with my parents. They dealt in finer flea market finds and antiques as a hobby for years. Their decorating taste was very similar to yours. Arched beveled glass cabinets, marble top tables, glass ball and claw turned table legs, and a clover leaf shaped mirrored secretary desk. Even an ice cream parlor heart shaped wrought iron kitchen set, which my dad made a larger top for, and used marbleized formica to cover it to match the chairs. The original wood had been left outdoors before he got it to rot.
After he retired, he built a nice coy pond, with a fountain, garden railroad, and village around it.

fans

Ok, wow, I didn't know Hoover made a fan. I have a sort of old 80's JC Penney box fan. Likely made by Lasco. You can oil the motor.
It's from my early days as a young bachelor when my apartment had no A/C in the bedroom. I used it to move cooler air in from the living room which had a below window unit. The color is between gold and almond.
I think there is still an old black metal G.E. oscilating fan in my dads house.
My sister lives there now, so she isn't getting rid of any antiques or stuff until she sells it. If ever.
There is always one kid who ends up back home after a divorce and 25 year marriage. Her new beau lives in Texas. They've been long distancing for a few years now. I think he will move back here once his kids are out of high school.
Military man. Both stayed married for their kids.

Good morning Peter, John and Austin I am so pleased that this post has spun such great conversation. Peter it is very interesting that you are in Sarnia, I am there every weekend as I was raised in Sarnia and we go to visit my Dad who will be 90 in October.

As for Dave from Stratford we met going on almost two years ago. I was talking one day at work a friend and telling her about Vacuumland.org and she said her cousin collected them and was from Stratford, I was able to show her is posted collect. Later that year Dave and I had an opportunity to meet; it really is a small world.

As for an item that I am looking for it would be a vintage Canadian Electrolux BZ57, if you have an extra would be very interested in it attached is a picture.

Austin, great fan, my partner and I had been collecting fans and about three years ago we transitioned what he had to his niece in Toronto who was collecting fans to enhance her collection we still have a few but a limited number. We did however kept the Vornado see attached picture.

John, I will keep an eye for a Hoover box fan when out searching the haunts for treasures.

For any of you close enough there is a great antique show that happens at Christie Lake Conservation Park called Christie Antiques on 10 Acres with hundreds of vendors two times a year, Saturday May 28th and September 10th click for more details go to http://christieshow.ca/

Have a great day everyone and happy collecting
