VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

The 28 is home and I wiped her down. I provided a link to the images of the Hoover.

Heres a breakdown of my take on the unit.

The Good

- Its all there, no missing springs/screws/parts from what I can tell

- No cracks in the body, no tears or rips in the bag.

- Overall in good mechanical and cosmetic shape.

The Bad

- I plugged it in...flipped the switch...absolutely nothing.

The ugly

- Common scuff marks on the lower body from vacuuming.

- Cord looks perfect; however, decades of being rolled up makes it want to stay in a circle shape, the internals of the cord in my opinion are shot.

Thats my take on the Model 28, where I go from here I'm not sure.

I can run a new cord to the motor. I have a few vintage plug-in 'ends' that will match the 50's/60's era appliances. No brown cords however.

Let me know what you guys would try or do next. I'm assuming the wire is bad because every bend seems to have brittled the insides and I don't hear anything (buzz, click, whine) near or around the motor making me believe no electricity is reaching it.
