Today, at the little antique shop on top of the hill, which by the way really is the richest part of our ghetto, I found under a pile of stereoscopes and other assorted paraphernalia, a (1900-1914) Victor Victrola IX. I was able to strike a fair price, which was agreeable to both party's. It plays decently enough, but it had a slight Havibration to it, which can only mean: That it broke one of its springs and throw a governor weight. Which of course, I ordered from that most wonderful place here on earth...eBay...it was the very second or third thing...wait a minute, or was it the forth thing? Oh, who cares anyway, I did it first thing when I got home...How's that grab you?!

your new victrola

What a beauty! I had the floor model version many years ago. We had a blast with it. They really are getting harder and harder to come by now. I have a friend here in Atlanta that has a business restoring them if you ever need any service that you cant handle. Have fun! PS: LOVE Mobile!

My cousin bought one of these at a yard sale.It had no inners. She made it into a bar. The top is deep enough to hold bottles. When you open the front doors, the shelves held glasses. It is very cool.

Thanks Ken, that's great to know. I'm glad you can still find someone who works on these old beauties. One thing is for sure, they are worth the fix, whatever the repair is.

Mobile is a whole lot alike GnawLynns( New Orleans ). From the bay to Midtown, there's a lot of places you can't tell the difference, with the exception, Mobile has some Spanish architecture thrown into the mix. It's a great place to live, especially if you love hurricanes and 10% sales tax, excluding that, it's not too bad.

Today...today...today, I consider myself...myself...myself, to be the luckiest...Hey, luck had nothing to do with it - Not when you have eBay kicking around! My springs and governor weights came in today, and the Ole Lady is spinning like a top....so smooth. Here's some before and after photos if your interested.
