XXX

Charles,

I agree, that's a lovely specimen of an XXX, it definitely appears to be well-cared for. I am tempted to bid on it, but that shipping cost (more than the bid price) is every-so slightly scaring me away.....you know, I've noticed that lately on eBay vacs, shipping costs are becoming completely outrageous on some machines, and it's no fault to the seller, I don't think they're out to gouge anyone, it's just what the postal system is charging now......makes it difficult on us collectors with limited funds!

Shipping charges have gone up several times recently, by both UPS and USPS.

And eBay itself is also partly to blame for high shipping costs. As if their profit on the sale of merchandise and their cut on the PayPal fees weren't enough, they also now do "value-adding" to the shipping cost. In some cases that can go to as much as 10% of the overall shipping cost.

eBay has become a less and less viable way to buy and sell collectibles and vintage items. I surf eBay fairly often but rarely buy anything anymore, and I can't remember the last time I sold sometime. I do have a spare Lux Model T that I'm going to list and that's really about it for the present time.

But this XXX is exceptional enough that I hope someone will get it, especially if the bidding doesn't go up too high.
