Vax 2000 multifunction

Hi guys hope you have all had a good Christmas, thought I would treat myself today to another vac lol. Got myself a vax 2000 multi function tank cleaner off ebay, it not bad for what it cost the floor tool and hose are a bit worn but I am going to use them for wet vacuuming and get a a new hose and floor tool for it for dry use. Here it is after a good clean up.

Thanks guys, need to get around to ordering a dry hose and floor head for it. I used it in wash mode the other night on a couple of Mats and it's really good. Using bissel solution as that's all I could get hold of at half 3 on a Sunday. Whats the best shampoo for the 2000 in your opinions?

If I were you I would just use any shampoo that works good
. We had a Vax 6140 pets version of the 6131 but in red. The shampoo it came with specially for pets was utter rubbish. The 1001 shampoo from the pound shop is more effective! Or even fairy liquid

Do not use Fairy liquid as it is not designed for cleaning fabrics and will produce excessive foam and leave a residue on your carpets.

The Bissell stuff is OK for use in a Vax providing you dilute it correctly and the Vax Ultra solutions do a good job. If you're on a budget, look for the Astonish Vac Maxx solution that can be found in many discount stores for about a pound a bottle. As long as the solution is low foaming and says it is suitable for use in a carpet washer, then you should be ok.

Sensotronic is correct, never use anything other than low-foaming extraction shampoo in this type of machine. No dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent or hand soap. Put the job off until you have the correct product on hand. Vax and Bissell solutions will work just fine, and I'll throw another one into the mix and suggest Nuchem 4 from Numatic.

Just a couple of weeks ago I had to sort out a carpet that my partner's mother had attempted to clean with Fairy, after her new dog had an accident or two. Pet urine on its own is bad enough to contend with as it is, but the soapy residue is what really made the job far more difficult than it should have been. The sticky suds and excessively high pH caused the carpet to resoil at an incredible rate, developing prominent black patches. Took a fair amount of time and effort to remedy, not to mention copious amounts of defoamer.

Nice score on the Vax, by the way. The 2000 had the best handgrip and fluid control trigger of them all IMHO, it was a real shame when they reverted back to the older style. Like all Vax canisters they do have a tendency to burst their paper bags however, so I always used the cloth bag instead (which also has the side benefit of being less restrictive to airflow, noticeably improving the suction power). Better still, pick up one of the now-obsolete dust bag connectors linked below while you still can, which will allow you to use Numatic bags in it.

Thank you sensortronic, the bissell stuff actually worked really well. My house is very clean but I could not believe the colour of the extracted liquid afterwords.

I have one of these that I mainly use in wet mode with an automop and 5130 Rapide head and it's amazing!
