What department store do you think has the best vacuum section? I always liked sears, but I recently went to Fry's, and was surprised at how many vacuums they had. The canister section was probably bigger than some stores entire vacuum lineup!

Mine used to be Sears too, but now I don't know. Sears near me dosn't even have real carpet anymore, just an area rug, and they don't like you taking them off the shelves anymore like they used to, you have to wait for a sales person to come over to the dept. The sales people in vacuums also now work together with the electronics dept. Weird. I also heard the vacuum/electronics depts get paid by the hour not commission like before.
Anyway I do kinda like Kohl's display and they have quite a bit to choose from, mostly uprights.

The Sears that is closest to me is in Avon, In. They cut back on all vacuums. They went to just ordering online. They had a monitor set up to scan models. They did put all their canisters on close out and I did get a couple of good deals.

The only problem with Sears is you can't be in the vacuum section for more than 5 seconds without some pesky Sears associate asking "may I help you?" Since they work on commission, they're like sharks chumming at the water to make their next sale. I think alot of stores have scaled back their vacuum departments. It's really a shame what has happened to the vacuum cleaner industry over the last 20 years, and for the foreseeable future, it will continue to be mostly plastic throwaways....

Ours must be understaffed, they never even look over from the big screen area.

I can't think of any stores that peak my interest to stop and browse the vacuum section...The Sears stores here are okay, fully carpeted and agree that the sales people are sharks...I tell them off though and say if/when I have questions or need assistance, I'll find you, leave me be to browse...LOL I can't even look at the vacuum bags without being annoyed...
The Sears vacuum section has too many Plastivacs now.Not interested anymore.
