Vacuum cleaner size class configuration.

I thought I'd start a vacuum size thing to make it sound important when your buying a vacuum or cleaning a business and need the right size. I didn't wanna make this sound confusing but this is what I came up with. If you think about it, this is actually important to think about vacuum choices. So you don't get hurt and etc. The max vacuum size is Class 8.

You own a cleaning company your going to see backpack vacuums. Proteam backpack vacuums are by far the best.
You would also see sanitaire as there replacement parts are dirt cheap.
The size does matter too. If your doing a big area the wide 28" vacuums are ideal.

Cleaning Businesses tends to have several machines and not one. The company needs something versatile with the right tools to do a job properly and there really isn't a cookie cutter machine to excel for every circumstance. A vac that does excellent on low pile commercial carpet, isn't always great on plush found in a home. A vacuum that performs great on plush carpet with wide cleaning path may not be as convenient or have decent and convenient easy to swap bare floor brush for various hard floor surfaces in homes or for doing carpeted stairs. Commercial environments get away with lack luster filtration too with shake out bags, but that won't fly in a conusmers home with someone with asthma, smokers, various pets, etc.

For commercial cleaning, you'll find that Sanitaire style uprights, ProTeam backpacks, and Electrolux/ Perfect/ ProTeam dual motor uprights seem to be the most common choices.

For residential cleaning, canister vacuums have always been a very popular choice over the years. Kenmores especially, despite not commercially built, but durable enough and in the mid price range with quick disconnect connections for the power nozzle and on board PowerMate Jr. for carpeted stairs and upholstery cleaning. Titan canisters in vac shops are great for that niche now.
Another excellent choice canister is the new Airway UltraKleen and Simplicity Scout Plus canister. Many don't know about them as they haven't been out long but I had the pleasure of demoing the AirWay UltraKleen and it's really a fantastic unit. Numerous suction speed settings, large easy to maneuver rubber coated wheels, replaceable brush strips, headlight, comfortable handle, great combo bare floor tool and general tool set, fingertip brush roll on/off switch, retractable long cord, HEPA filtration, crush resistance and very flexible, long swivel hose all in an easy to use, quiet package.


Also, small correction to your chart, the Hoover Guardsman canister is wonderful machine from the 1970s but it belongs in the 20 pound range not the 10 pound range.

The one you have pictured for class 7 I can say that is a very very heavy vacuum! I have one at my vacuum store on the “salvage” side of the store and I was organizing over there one day and went to pick it up to move it and good gracious that thing made a Kirby feel light!
