Hello, I have recently aquired a Vacumaid S1600, but it was not functioning (neither the motor or control board). As I consider it underpowered, and I needed to replace two main parts, I decided to upgrade.
I now have the P-225 motor pod, but with a brand new P-225P motor. However, the control board is original (Motor pod was manufactured in 1997), and there is something happening that I have never experienced before. When plugged in, the motor will momentarily turn on. Just for a brief second. The low voltage control functions as it should.
I haven't owned many central vacuums before, so I don't know if this is normal behavior? No other unit I've owned has done this, but I've never had a Vacumaid.
Also, when looking at the motor from the top while it is running, there is a white "glow" between the brushes and commutator. Not sparks, just a consistent "glow", as I call it. Is this just because the motor is new and the brushes have not been broken in? Again, none of my other units have done this, or at least not that I've noticed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
