Updated Changes to my Collection

This website will not let me delete threads, even though I am a paid member. So I will just post this thread:

-I have made updated changes. I will no longer be getting that old Grey 70s Eureka Commercial Vacuum. Looking at the fan on ebay, it looks plastic, not metal, and I think the entire motor was replaced. So I canceled that transaction. I want something literally all original, no replacements, especially when it comes to the motor.

-I will also no longer be getting The Eureka Boss 2034A. I canceled that transaction too, because I found craigslist.

-Vacuum Replacements: I am Keeping the Hoover Wards, because that is a really rare vacuum. I don't see anyone else who has a Hoover Wards.

-Eureka Boss: Will be replaced with a Eureka Self Propelled Vacuum from the 80s.

-Hoover Convertible: Hopefully, I will replace it with a 70s Eureka, if I can buy it.

-I am currently still looking for a Montgomery Wards Vacuum Cleaner made by Eureka. I went to a lot of thrift stores today, and never found one. That one might take years to find, because Wards is so rare.

Cancelling bids on transactions for no reason other than changing your mind (*) is a very unprofessional way to conduct yourself on eBay, and, in fact, violates eBay's buying & selling policies. Personally, I'd be mighty peeved if a buyer did that on one of my listings.

Well I want original vacuum cleaners, not something that was replaced with something brand new. It probably sounds like a modern Sanitaire, that Eureka Commercial Vacuum I canceled the transaction on.

And I did not know that it violates ebay's policies. No one has told me this until now. I canceled the transaction on the 2034A because I found something much better on craigslist. I will take pics once it arrives next week. So I won't cancel transactions anymore if it violates ebay's policies. Once 2-3 years ago, I asked to cancel a transaction and I got an unpaid item case open. The user then closed it and just re-listed the item. He did tell me to never buy from him ever again. It was not a vacuum, it was something else. This was before I started to get deep into collecting vacuums.

You say you didn't know that canceling a transaction violates eBay policy. Yet when you did it before, the buyer filed an unpaid-item claim against you. How much clearer an indication do you need that doing so is not permitted? (To say nothing of simply having a fundamental understanding of how to fairly and equitably deal with other people.)


 


When you are the winning bidder on an item and don't pay for it, you cause a lot of trouble and hassle for the seller, not the least of which is that he will be obliged to re-list the item. And most of the time, a re-listed item does not attract very good bidding. "Retread auctions" seem to take on a sort of tainted aura somehow and people tend not to bid on them.


 


You should have decided you didn't want the items BEFORE you won the auctions. If you do this enough times, eBay will show you the door. And not very graciously.

(I suppose certain people are gonna jump on me for calling you on your bad behavior. All I can say is, if they haven't sold stuff on eBay and had buyers leave them holding the bag, then they just don't understand how frustrating it is, nor do they realize the economic impact involved.)

I don't want my account to be suspended. I won't ever do this again in this case. I really did not know you can get suspended for having unpaid strikes on your account.

Ignorance is not an excuse, eBay's policies are there and available and you acknowledge that you have read and understand them when you create an account. A bid is a contract to purchase, failure to pay for that purchase is a breach of contract and if the $$ is high enough, a seller could sue you and will win.


If the seller has materially misrepresented the item - stating that it is NIB when it's used, or saying it's original but it's full of aftermarket parts, then you have a not as described grievance and eBay will refund your money. The only acceptable reasons for canceling a bid are listed below (taken directly from eBay's support page).


Whether you can retract a bid depends on the circumstances and timing of the bid. You can retract a bid for the following reasons:

I want an all original Wards Upright. That one listed is practically destroyed. I want one that is all original with the original bag and everything working. I may have to wait, but I know I will find something like that in the future. Something else, I waited 3 years to buy a Hoover Blender, because I like old Hoover products, and I finally bought one. Brand New In the Box for $130.

So it may take years, but I will find what I am looking for eventually.
